Guest Asked to Buy New Shirt to Comply With Walt Disney World Dress Code in Viral Video

A popular new video on TikTok shows a Walt Disney World guest claiming her top violated the resort’s dress code and was asked to buy a new shirt to comply, according to Fox News.

User Nicole DeLosReyes uploaded the video. It shows her near Disney’s BoardWalk, saying, “Guys, it happened. I got dress coded at Disney, and I was told to leave or get a shirt, so we’re getting a shirt.” In the video, DeLosReyes wears a white low-cut (but not transparent) crop top tied in the middle. She later clarified, adding, “At entry I got stopped and was told they don’t allow tie front tops…wack. So I had to either leave and change or buy merch.”

The video, which has had over 1.3 million views as of the writing of this article, has garnered both support and criticism. One commenter pointed out that while she was asked to change her top, Ariel “wears a seashell bra” while meeting guests. Some noted that the resort’s dress code is readily available on their website, claiming she should have been aware of it. The dress code states that Disney reserves “the right to deny admission to or remove any person wearing attire that we consider inappropriate or attire that could detract from the experience of other Guests.”

Other users referenced another viral video from last year. In it, a guest claimed she found a “hack” to get a free shirt by wearing one that violated the dress code. DeLosReyes responded by saying “I didn’t do it on purpose. I don’t care for a free damn shirt, I just wasted a cute fit.” She mentioned that she was asked to purchase a new top, suggesting that the policy has changed since that video was released.

The Biggest Disney News Drops From May

It certainly seems like there’s never a shortage of news when it comes to Disney World!

There’s almost always something going on in Disney World!

May brought us so much news and information about the parks! We got to ride Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind in EPCOT, saw the release of the Disney Pride Collection (with 100% of profits donated), and saw some exciting (and not so exciting) food updates! These are the most important things we learned in Disney World in the month of May!

Festival News

EPCOT International Food and Wine Festival

May was a big month when it came to Food and Wine Festival news! The EPCOT International Food and Wine Festival begins on July 14th and runs until November 19th. It includes over 25 food booths, and a concert series!

We love an EPCOT Festival

In May month, we got details about what performers will be coming to the Eat to the Beat Concert Series, as well as more details about Eat to the Beat Concert Series dining packages (for which reservations are already open, by the way!). We’ve also seen what food booths will be coming to the festival this year, and gotten more details about Emile’s Fromage Montage which is the Food and Wine Festival cheese crawl (not that we need an excuse to eat more cheese).

Click here to read more about the EPCOT International Food and Wine Festival!

Food News

Nutella Waffle Sandwich

In exciting food news, we are now able to order the Nutella Waffle Sandwich from Sleepy Hollow Refreshments in Magic Kingdom ALL. DAY. LONG.

Nutella and Fresh Fruit Waffle Sandwich

It had previously only been served with breakfast, but now it is back on the all-day menu — and we are very grateful for that!

Click here to read about our Nutella Waffle Sandwich HACK!

Peanut Butter Recall

There is currently a recall on certain Jif peanut butter products, which has made it tricky to get some peanut butter items in Disney World. For example, all of the May flavor of the month items at Gideon’s Bakehouse had peanut butter as an ingredient, and they were all made unavailable due to the shortage.

©Gideon’s Bakehouse

All peanut butter sauces have been pulled from the menu at Plaza Ice Cream Parlor in Magic Kingdom, as well, though some peanut butter items are available.

Click here to read more about the peanut butter recall in Disney World!

Fuzzy Tauntaun

The Fuzzy Tauntaun is a drink that you can get from Oga’s Cantina in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Hollywood Studios (you can get it in Disneyland, as well).

The Fuzzy Tauntaun!

The Fuzzy Tauntaun is a cocktail at Oga’s which has foam that will make your mouth go numb. It would seem that the drink may be in jeopardy as the Fuzzy Tauntaun has been removed from the cantina menu in Disneyland, but the Disney World menu still has it. When we spoke with a Cast Member, they were able to tell us that it is not going to be removed, but the ingredients they use to make the numbing foam are changing. These changes have not yet taken place.

Click here for instructions on how to make the Fuzzy Tauntaun at home!

Gingerbread Cookie Sandwich

If you’re a fan of the Gingerbread Salted Caramel Buttercream Cookie Sandwich from Karamell-Küche, then get ready to thank us because in May, we headed to our test kitchen and prepared a recipe for this treat.

One word: YUM!

Unfortunately, however, we recently noticed that this cookie was missing from the case! When we asked a Cast Member, they told us that it was going to be replaced by something new. So I guess for now, we have to say goodbye to our beloved cookie. According to the Cast Member, it will be a seasonal once again.

Click here for step-by-step instructions for the Gingerbread Salted Caramel Buttercream Cookie Sandwich!

Reopening News

Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique

At long last, we finally got some details about the reopening of the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique in both Disney World and Disneyland!

We finally got reopening news!

Disney did not share specific details about a reopening timeline, but we do know that it will be reopening sometime this year!

Read more about the reopening of the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique here!

Harmony Barber Shop

Another Magic Kingdom location we’d been waiting to hear reopening news from was the Harmony Barber Shop!

Harmony Barber Shop

Now, we know that it will be reopening its doors on July 31st for both child and adult haircuts, including the “My First Haircut” package where kids can get their hair cut along with some special memorabilia, including a lock of their hair.

Click here for more information about Harmony Barber Shop!

Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue

We already knew that the Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue would be returning on June 23rd with reservations opening up for the experience on May 26th, but we also got more information about pricing and showtimes!

Hoop-Dee-Doo Revue

Pricing varies depending on where you’re sitting (the main floor or on either of the balconies), and there are three showtimes per evening.

Click here to learn more about pricing and showtimes for Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue!

Disney World Shows News

Fantasmic! Updates

Last year, Disney announced that Fantasmic! would be returning to Hollywood Studios, but they did not provide many details.

Fantasmic!

In early May, we got more details about what the show will look like when it finally makes its return! There will be new scenes and updates to the show, as well as the addition of a new show sequence that features characters like Anna, Elsa, Mulan, and Pocahontas! Disney still has not provided details about when the show will return officially.

Click here to read all of the details about the new aspects coming to Fantasmic!

A Celebration of Festival of the Lion King

When the fan-favorite The Lion King show reopened in Disney World following the COVID-19 closure, it reopened in a muted version as A Celebration of Festival of the Lion King. This new version had fewer features and was essentially a watered down version of the original show.

A Celebration of Festival of the Lion King

We knew that the tumble monkeys (an iconic part of the original show) would be returning this summer, and now, we know when! A Celebration of Festival of the Lion King will be unavailable from July 5th-July 15th and when it reopens on July 16th, the tumble monkeys and more will be back!

You can read more about A Celebration of Festival of the Lion King closure by clicking here!

EPCOT Transformation Updates

CommuniCore Hall and CommuniCore Plaza

May was a huge month for news regarding the EPCOT transformation! Last month, we got a bunch of information about two new things coming to EPCOT, CommuniCore Hall and CommuniCore Plaza.

©Disney

CommuniCore Plaza is a huge outdoor area where guests can watch concerts on the outdoor performance stage or take a stroll through some gardens. CommuniCore Hall is located within the plaza and will be the new festival center, offering multi-functional spaces that will make EPCOT’s festivals more interactive and exciting.

©Disney

Click here for more details about CommuniCore Plaza and CommuniCore Hall!

Mickey and Friends Meet-And-Greet

One thing that was removed when construction began in EPCOT was the EPCOT Character Spot. The Character Spot (just as the name implies) is where guests were able to meet the classic Disney characters like Mickey, Minnie, and Goofy.

The former Character Spot

As part of the EPCOT Transformation, a new character meet-and-greet spot is coming in the form of Mickey and Friends! It will be nice to have the gang all back in one place again!

Click here to read more about the Mickey and Friends meet-and-greet coming to EPCOT!

Glowing Sidewalks

Okay, we admit it, this one may seem minor compared to all of the other MAJOR announcements coming to EPCOT, but we’re so happy that the glowing sidewalks will be returning!

Lights in the pavement | 2019

If you don’t know what the glowing sidewalks are, they’re lights that were embedded in the pavement that would come on each night in EPCOT, and they will be returning in an enhanced way.

Click here to see what Imagineer Zach Riddley had to say about EPCOT’s glowing sidewalks!

Journey of Water — Inspired by Moana

Journey of Water — Inspired by Moana is a new walkthrough attraction coming to EPCOT, and we finally got some more details about it this month!

Journey of Water — Inspired by Moana construction late May 2022

The attraction will take the form of a lush exploration trail where guests will quite literally get to see the journey of water and learn about the water cycle! The attraction will also be interactive giving guests the opportunity to play with the water while they learn about it.

Click here to learn more about Journey of Water — Inspired by Moana!

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind Updates

Virtual Queue

In May, we learned that Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind will not be offering a traditional standby line, but will instead be using a virtual queue the same way Rise of the Resistance and Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure did when they first opened.

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind in EPCOT

The virtual queue will open twice per day for regular guests, once at 7AM, and once at 2PM, and a third time at 6PM only for those eligible for Extended Evening Hours.

Click here to read more about the virtual queue for Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind!

Individual Lightning Lane

Securing a spot in the virtual queue will not be the only way guests can experience Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind. They will also be able to purchase an Individual Lightning Lane for it (aka, pay-per-ride).

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind

You can purchase a Lightning Lane for this ride beginning at 7AM each morning.

Disney Genie+ Updates

Changes to Genie+

Disney recently announced a MAJOR change to the way Genie+ is purchased. Previously, guests could purchase Genie+ for multiple days at a time as an add-on when they purchased their tickets.

Disney Genie

Beginning June 8th, all guests will have to purchase Genie+ on each day they wish to use it. You will have to purchase Genie+ on the day you plan to use it, and the ability to purchase it will begin at midnight. This change is only going to affect in Disney World, Disneyland’s Genie+ process will remain the same at this time.

Click here to read more about the change in how you purchase Genie+ here!

Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure

Beginning May 31st, for a limited time, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure will no longer be an Individual Lightning Lane purchase.

Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure

Until August 7th, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure will be included in the regular Genie+ (the one that you pay a flat $15 for).

Click here for more details about the change to Genie+

Technology Updates

MagicBand+ News

Following an accidental release of the new MagicBand+ bands in early May, Disney released some more details about what MagicBand+ will look like in action when it is finally released for real.

MagicBand+

MagicBand+ will work as your park ticket (as the traditional MagicBands do) and will also interact with features around the Disney World parks, like the 50th Anniversary gold statues found in each of the parks!

Click here for a first look at MagicBand+ in Disney World!

“Hey, Disney!”

May also brought us more details about the new Amazon Alexa Voice Assistant, Hey, Disney! that will soon be available in all Disney World and Disneyland hotel rooms.

Hey, Disney!

Hey, Disney! will be able to help you with various aspects of your stay. For example, if you need something brought to your room, you can request it through Hey, Disney! and you can ask it questions like what time a park opens or what the weather will be like that day. You can also set alarms with it and interact with some of your favorite characters.

Click here for all the details about Hey, Disney!

Miscellaneous Updates

Changes to Annual Passholder Discounts

Annual Passholders are eligible for up to 20% discounts on things like shopping and dining in Disney World. The way passholders used to prove their eligibility was by showing their physical Annual Pass card, but that process has now changed.

Annual Passholder Entrance

Now, Annual Passholders will need to produce some form of identification along with showing the Cast Member the area of the My Disney Experience app that proves they are a Passholder.

Click here to read more about how to get your Annual Passholder discount in Disney World!

Early Theme Park Entry Extended

Early Theme Park Entry was the perk Disney introduced as part of Disney World’s 50th Anniversary that allows Disney World hotel guests access to the park 30 minutes before it opens. It was rolled out as a replacement for the now-defunct Extra Magic Hours.

Early Theme Park Entry is a perk for guests staying at a Disney World hotel!

Disney announced in May that Early Theme Park Entry would be continued at least through the end of 2023, meaning that it will still continue even once the 50th Anniversary has ended.

Click here to read more about Early Theme Park Entry in Disney World!

Animal Kingdom Parking Trams

Parking Lot trams are slowly returning to the Disney World theme parks. They returned to the Magic Kingdom a few months ago and we were told that they would be making their return to the other parks soon.

Parking Trams are BACK at Animal Kingdom!

In the beginning of May, a Cast Member told us that parking trams would be returning to Animal Kingdom on May 27th — and they did! But there is still no word on when they will make their return to EPCOT or Hollywood Studios.

Click here to read more about parking trams returning to Animal Kingdom!

And those are 14 things we learned in Disney World in May! We’re always on the lookout for Disney World news and updates, so make sure to stay tuned to DFB for all the latest!

Westbound EPCOT Center Drive Ramp Onto Northbound World Drive Reopens

It’s now slightly easier to drive around Walt Disney World, as westbound EPCOT Center Drive’s ramp onto northbound World Drive has reopened.

The ramp was closed off for refurbishment earlier this year, causing headaches for drivers as they exit EPCOT.

Meanwhile, orange traffic markers are still in place along the shoulders of the two-lane road.

The ramp leads directly to an exit to head to the Magic Kingdom, its surrounding resorts, and Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground.

The roadways around Walt Disney World have undergone a significant amount of work recently. Over on World Drive, construction continues on a ramp in front of Magic Kingdom parking to ease congestion. This is all part of Phase II for the road, which will align it with all the new ramps and exits from the road. Earlier this year, westbound EPCOT Center Drive was closed for roadwork.

Disney’s Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Is About To Get Even MORE Interactive

Star Wars Day might’ve been on May the 4th, but right now it’s unofficially Star Wars Weekend!

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge

Star Wars Celebration is underway in Anaheim, and we’re getting a ton of big announcements about Star Wars TV shows, new merchandise coming to Disney Parks, new characters arriving soon, and more! We also just got an announcement about a new way to make your next trip to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge even more interactive!

Guests will soon have a new way to interact with Batuu during their next visit. Disney is releasing new AR lenses that will allow guests to turn themselves into Star Wars characters, like a Twi’lek, Togruta, and more! Disney even announced that guests may even be able to use the tech to turn themselves into Inquisitors (SCARY)!

©Disney

These new AR lenses will be available through Snapchat for a limited time (through July 7th), but they’ll also be available via PhotoPass on the My Disney Experience app for Disney World guests!

Currently, there are exclusive AR lenses only available to guests who purchase Disney Genie+, but we don’t have any details about these new Star Wars AR lenses and if they’ll also be exclusive to Genie+ in the future.

©Disney

We’ll continue to keep an eye out for these new AR lenses and get you more details when we have them. In the meantime, we’re covering all the big news coming out of Star Wars Celebration this weekend, so check back with us often for more!

Monorail Teal Returns From Refurbishment at Walt Disney World

Monorail Teal has returned to service on the Magic Kingdom Monorail line after a major refurbishment.

The Monorails have been undergoing refurbishment one by one over the past few years.

Monorail Teal is mostly white with a teal stripe running around its exterior — the same design as all the Walt Disney World Monorails.

A teal version of the Walt Disney World logo is next to the cockpit door.

The deltas on the teal stripe are now black, which matches most of the other Monorails.

The accordion sections were either thoroughly cleaned or replaced as they look brand-new.

Let’s take a look at the new interior!

The interior has a more drastic change than the exterior. Previously, the bench seats were teal and the cabin walls were grey.

Now the walls are teal, with a Walt Disney World logo pattern.

“Walt Disney World Monorail System” and “Monorail Teal” are printed along a solid stripe at the center of the wall.

The bench seats are now light grey.

A teal stripe runs around the ceiling.

The carpet fabric on the walls and doors has also been replaced.

According to a Cast Member, this is the first time they replaced the carpet during a Monorail refurbishment.

The carpet is dark grey.

The railings were cleaned so well that we thought they might have been replaced, but the Cast Member confirmed they were the same railings.

Do you like the Monorail Teal refurbishment? Let us know what you think in the comments.

‘Star Wars’ is Reinventing Drink Delivery on Disney’s New Cruise Ship!

This is THE week for Star Wars announcements.

Hyperspace Lounge ©Disney

But it’s not just about Star Wars TV shows, movies, and video games. We’re also getting some updates about what’s coming soon to Disney Parks, as well as what’s coming to Disney Cruise Line’s new ship, the Disney Wish. We previously told you about the Wish’s ‘Star Wars’-themed Hyperspace Lounge, but now we’ve got even MORE details!

The Hyperspace Lounge on the Disney Wish will be a brand new experience that will offer “otherworldly concoctions” to guests, as well as interactive tasting experiences in a lounge inspired by Dryden Vos’ ship in Solo: A Star Wars Story. We’ve already seen some behind-the-scenes footage of how the space was designed, which includes windows that look out over space in a galaxy far, far away.

©Disney

Well, during a panel at Star Wars Celebration, we learned a little bit more about what guests can expect in the lounge — and it’s all about how cocktails will be delivered. It seems like cocktails will arrive in camtonos — those cylindrical boxes that look like ice cream makers.

©Disney

The camtonos will open up to reveal the cocktail — pretty cool, right?

©Disney

Leave it to Disney to come up with an extra fun detail for guests. The Disney Wish will set sail from Port Canaveral, FL, starting on July 14th for 3-4 night cruises to Nassau and Disney’s Castaway Cay. The Hyperspace Lounge is only one of the unique experiences guests will get to have on board — there’s also a Frozen theatrical dining experience, as well as an interactive Marvel dining experience. A little something for everyone!

We’ll continue to cover ALL the Star Wars news coming out this weekend, as well as keep you updated on all things about the Disney Wish, so stay tuned to DFB for more!

Disney Breaking Timeline of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge With Introduction of Disney+ and Legacy Characters

With today’s introduction of Boba Fett and Fennec Shand to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disneyland, Disney is disrupting the timeline of the land for the first time.

Boba Fett and Fennec Shand in Disneyland

Until now, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge has remained strictly set between Episodes 8 and 9 of the “Star Wars” saga. Characters who appeared on Batuu included Kylo Ren and Rey. Boba Fett, Fennec Shand, the Mandalorian, and Grogu (the latter two will appear in the land soon) are from an earlier era of the galaxy far, far away. Their Disney+ shows are set a few years after Episode 6, “Return of the Jedi.”

Disney stated in the announcement that the Disney+ characters “will remain in their specific story and timeline and won’t intersect with other characters or stories that would not be appropriate for them.” That means we won’t see Boba Fett and Rey hanging out.

It is possible Boba, Fennec, the Mandalorian, and Grogu are still alive by the events of “The Last Jedi,” but they probably wouldn’t look the same as they do in their shows.

This opens the door to other classic “Star Wars” characters appearing in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge later on, with schedules that keep them from ever running into someone that shouldn’t be born for another twenty years.

At this time, Disney has only confirmed these appearances for Disneyland Resort.

How do you feel about Disney breaking the timeline of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge? Are there any characters you’re hoping to see in the future? Let us know in the comments.

Can You Ride the Guardians Coaster TWICE in One Day in Disney World? What We Know.

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind has officially opened in EPCOT!

It’s officially open!

Disney shared several weeks ago that Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind will (at least for now) will not offer a standby line, and will instead require guests to obtain a boarding group via a virtual queue in order to ride. In addition to a virtual queue, Cosmic Rewind will also be available as an Individual Lightning Lane selection (or pay-per-ride selection) via Disney Genie.

All Disney World guests can try to join the virtual queue for Cosmic Rewind at 7AM, and then again at 1PM. The virtual queue will also open again at 6PM on select nights for Disney World hotel guests that are eligible for Extended Evening Hours. Extended Evening Hours are essentially the replacement for Extra Magic Hours where select Disney World hotel guests are able to stay in the parks after they have closed to the other guests.

Certain Disney World hotel guests can stay in the parks after they have closed!

Once you have secured a space in the virtual queue, you will be given a boarding group, and an estimated amount of time until you will be able to get on the ride. You are only able to join the virtual queue for a ride once per day, so if you are able to successfully able to join at 7AM, you are not able to join again at 1PM.

©Disney

When it comes to Individual Lightning Lanes, Disney World hotel guests are eligible to purchase and reserve a time beginning at 7AM the morning of their visit to the park. All other guests are able to purchase Individual Lightning Lane reservations when the park where the ride is located opens. So for example, if you want to purchase an Individual Lightning Lane for Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, non-Disney World hotel guests can make that purchase when EPCOT opens.

EPCOT

You can also only purchase one Individual Lightning Lane for an attraction per park per day, and only two Individual Lightning Lane selections each day, no matter the attraction. With all that information, it would seem like you can only ride Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind once per day, but is that true?

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind

There might be a way to ride Cosmic Rewind twice! If you can secure a boarding group for the ride, and also purchase an Individual Lightning Lane for the ride, it stands to reason that you could ride it twice: once with your boarding group, and once with your Lightning Lane!

Can you ride Cosmic Rewind twice?

We were wondering if this would work, so we stopped by Guest Relations in EPCOT, and asked! There, a Cast Member told us that theoretically, this would work! A guest could ride the coaster twice, once with the virtual queue, and once with their Lightning Lane.

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind

We saw this in action with Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, which also opened with a virtual queue and as an Individual Lightning lane offering. We had success riding twice in one day by using the virtual queue and purchasing a Lightning Lane, so it makes sense that the same would be true for Cosmic Rewind!
