You MISSED These Star Wars News DROPS

It’s Star Wars Celebration time, and there’s a LOT happening that we need to share!

©Disney

The MASSIVE fan event is taking place this weekend in Anaheim, and there are panels, meet-and-greets, special merchandise drops, and tons of announcements about upcoming projects. So if you’re not there and you want to know what’s going on, we’ll be updating this post throughout the weekend to share all the big announcements!

Andor Trailer

First up, we got the trailer for the upcoming Disney+ series, Andor. It’s based on the character Cassian Andor from Rogue One and will begin streaming on August 31st!

They also revealed that twelve episodes have already been filmed and that the show will be set five years before the events of Rogue One. We can’t wait to check it out!

The Mandalorian Season 3 Updates

For the third season of the hit showThe MandalorianKatee Sackhoff revealed that she will be returning to play Bo-Katan Kryze and that the characters will be traveling to Mandalore so that Bo-Katan can be “forgiven for her transgressions.” Interesting!

It was also announced that this season will premiere in February 2023. Both Grogu and Din Djarin (the Mandalorian himself) will be back on the screen for the upcoming episodes! We’ll be counting down the days until we can see our little green friend again. (And until Baby Yoda/Grogu merchandise takes over the shelves all over again!)

Skeleton Crew

We’d already heard some news about a Star Wars show starring children, but now we’ve got a title and more details! Coming soon is Skeleton Crew starring Jude Law and executive produced by Jon Watts, Christopher Ford, Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni.

It will stream on Disney+ in 2023 and will feature a group of children, about 10 years old, who get swept up in the Star Wars galaxy. But while the show may star children, Star Wars says it’s not necessarily FOR children. We’re interested to learn more about this project in the future — it will be set in the same time period as The Mandalorian.

Willow Trailer

And in other Lucasfilm news, we’ve got the new trailer for Willowthe sequel series to the 1988 movie of the same name (which was produced by George Lucas himself). It will begin streaming on Disney+ on November 30th, 2022.

The movie’s original star, Warwick Davis, will be returning for this sequel project. Bring on the 80s nostalgia!

That’s everything that we know about so far from Star Wars Celebration, but stay tuned to DFB for all the big announcements throughout the weekend. We’ll make sure to keep you updated!

‘Willow’ Series Debuting on November 30, Teaser Trailer Released

During their panel at Star Wars Celebration, Lucasfilm announced that the “Willow” series will debut on November 30. Watch the teaser trailer below.

The “Willow” series takes place 20 years after the original film. Warwick Davis will return as the namesake hero, Willow Ufgood. His daughter, Annabelle Davis, will portray his on-screen daughter. Joanne Whalley will return as Princess Sorsha.

Ron Howard, director of the original “Willow” film, returns as executive producer on the series with Bob Dolman, writer of the original film, serving as consulting producer.

Let’s Go Over All of the ‘Star Wars’ Series Updates Just Announced!

With Star Wars Celebration kicking off its first day of festivities today, you knew we’d be getting some news! Let’s review what’s been announced thus far. Grab some popcorn and throw on your Empire Strikes Back footie pajamas. Here we go.

Andor

Andor, a new series based on Rogue One’s Cassian Andor, has received a debut date of August 31st, 2022. The Disney+ series premiere will be a two episodes in length (yay!). The series is set 5 years before Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and, according to the Star Wars Twitter account, they’ve already filmed 12 episodes. The actor who portrays Cassian Andor, Diego Luna, said at today’s Lucasfilm panel, “When I was doing the film, I did every day as though it was my last. I didn’t know this was possible.” How wonderful is that?!

Andor’s teaser trailer was also released as part of the Lucasfilm panel. You can watch it below:

The Mandalorian

The Season 3 release month for your favorite Star Wars series and mine was released today, and though it’s next year, I’m gonna try really hard to be patient. The Mandalorian’s next season will debut in February 2023 on Disney+. We’ll be waiting right here for you, Grogu.

Star Wars: Skeleton Crew

Dear me, Jude Law is joining the Star Wars family. Star Wars: Skeleton Crew is an original series being created for Disney+ that’ll begin streaming in 2023. Executive producers will be Jon Watts (whom I love from his time as the director of the latest Spider-Man films), Christopher Ford (Spider-Man: Homecoming writer), and Star Wars royalty Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni.

Obi-Wan Kenobi

This is your friendly reminder that Obi-Wan Kenobi, the new Disney+ series starring Ewan McGregor, begins this Friday, May 27th. Hold on, that doesn’t quite encapsulate all I was trying to say. Let me try again. OBI-WAN KENOBI BEGINS THIS FRIDAYYYYYY! Yep, that’s better.

I’ve got a *good* feeling about this. Which Star Wars series are you most looking forward to?
