A Walt Disney World Railroad Update!

This update is minor, but I think any little victory is worth being acknowledged and celebrated right now. The Walt Disney World Railroad has been closed since December of 2018 to make way for TRON Lightcycle Run construction, which is taking up a good chunk of the railroad. There is no reopening date yet, which is sad because I want nothing more than to ride the train repeatedly while watching the hustle and bustle of Magic Kingdom. There are three different stations to get on and off the train throughout the Magic Kingdom: The Frontierland Station, Fantasyland Station, and the Main Street USA Station. When zooming through Frointerland, the train goes through a tunnel built into Splash Mountain, where you can see the ride’s final scene. Oh, how I miss that part more than ever.

New Tracks!

We might not have a reopening date, but we do have some updates on its progress. Over by the Fantasyland station, the tracks had been removed because of Tron. Recently they laid down new tracks at that station leading toward the Tron construction site. These tracks will go through a tunnel to guide the train through TRON Lightcycle Run. The new tracks end next to the Tron poster that can be seen across from The Barnstormer but not any further than that. Next time you are in line for this fun kiddie coaster, look at the railroad because we might see some new changes.

Where New Track Ends

I told you it was a minor update, but hopefully, we will see the train chugging along by the end of 2022. I have so many unforgettable memories of this attraction. For example, when my brother was in his toddler years, he loved all things trains, and we couldn’t just ride the train once. My brother had us doing laps on the Walt Disney World Railroad; we had the ride memorized. My brother’s closest thing to the railroad is watching the trains over at the Germany Pavilion for about 15 minutes to get his fix, he may no longer be a toddler, but he still loves trains. Because of those memories, these minor updates give me hope that soon I will be able to make more.

What are your favorite memories from the Walt Disney World Railroad? Let us know in the comments.

Radiator Springs Racers to Remain Closed Through Weekend for Testing at Disney California Adventure

A Disneyland spokesperson told the Orange County Register that Radiator Springs Racers at Disney California Adventure would remain closed indefinitely for testing after a vehicle was seen with smoke rising out of it.

radiator-springs-racers-reopens-12

In the evening on Tuesday, May 24, Radiator Springs Racers stopped, and eyewitnesses saw smoke rising from a vehicle near the end of the attraction. It was closed for the rest of the day. Disney then kept the ride closed all day yesterday, May 25, and is keeping it closed today. According to the Orange County Register, it will be closed through the holiday weekend.

The Disneyland spokesperson confirmed the issue was with a single vehicle and that it would remain closed indefinitely “out of an abundance of caution.” They said guests “might see visible testing over the weekend.”

REVIEW: STRAWBERRY Continues to Reign as a Disney World Food TREND

We’re almost there, people! Summer is RIGHT around the corner.

Strawberry Cookie

Whether you’ve already planned your Disney World trip or are just getting started, in the parks, summer fun has been in the works for quite a while. We’ve already seen a list of summer treats we can expect to find, and today we spotted some returning treats in Disney’s Animal Kingdom that just scream summer!

We love stopping by Zuri’s Sweets Shop in Animal Kingdom to check out all the delicious pastries and desserts they offer. Last year, Disney World rolled out a slew of fruit treats. And now, the Strawberry treats have made their return!

2021 Pineapple Cookie

Zuri’s is serving up two fruity snacks  — starting with the Strawberry Mickey Cookie. But you should be able to find these available in more locations as well.

Strawberry Mickey Cookie

This is a Mickey-shaped sugar cookie covered in strawberry icing and it was $5.49. We enjoyed this cookie — the icing had a nice light strawberry flavor that didn’t taste artificial or too sweet.

A decent enough cookie.

The cookie was just your run-of-the-mill sugar cookie, and it may have just been ours but it was a little dry. If you’re looking for that soft, gooey sugar cookie — this is NOT going to fit that bill, as it’s more of a cake-like consistency.

We also tried the returning Mickey Strawberry Rice Cereal Treat for $5.49. This is a crispy rice treat with strawberry marshmallows and a strawberry crumb dusting on the outside.

Strawberry Mickey Rice Cereal Treat

This sort of reminded us of those strawberry shortcake ice cream bars you could get at school or from the ice cream truck! It was nice and fresh (unlike most rice cereal treats at Disney) and the coating on the outside lent a nice texture and added strawberry flavor.

We really liked this one!

The Strawberry Rice Cereal Treat wasn’t as large as the strawberry cookie, so it’s not quite as shareable but could still do the trick. It would be great for kids or fans of strawberries, but if you don’t love fruity desserts we’d steer clear.

If you’re looking for a solo snack, there are much better options around the same price. Some personal DFB favorites are the Pineapple Lumpia at Pongu Pongu, Lunch Box Tarts from Woody’s Lunch Box, and even a Mini Mango Pie at Yak & Yeti Local Foods Cafe!
