Here at DFB, we try A LOT of new food (it is in our name, after all!).
We recently tried a Berries and Cream Churro (don’t worry, we were confused too) in Disneyland, two new Starbucks items in Disney World, and some new menu items at Skipper Canteen in Magic Kingdom, and today, we’re trying a new treat!
Today, we headed over to the Grand Floridian to try a new Disney World treat. We tried the Orange Bird Cake Pop from Gasparilla Island Grill. It is a “vanilla cake pop with citrus buttercream enrobed in white chocolate decorated as Orange Bird.”
We loved pretty much everything about this cake pop. The cake itself was incredibly moist and it has just a hint of orange flavor so it’s not super overwhelming. The white chocolate created a nice crunch and overall the consistency of the treat really worked well. It’s also a pretty decent size, so you could share if you wanted to. Plus, it’s ADORABLE! (Or maybe a little creepy, depending on who you ask.) You tell us if you think it’s cute or creepy. We really are torn!
If you’re not a fan of citrus, you may want to steer away from this treat, but honestly, it was such a light touch you might still like the cake pop as a whole. One downfall of the cake pop is that the cake is so moist (which flavor-wise is great!) that it sort of fell apart. We don’t think it would travel very well, so if you’re wanting to grab something to take home with you, you should probably pick something else.
You can grab this Orange Bird Cake Pop at Gasparilla Island Grill at the Grand Floridian for $7.99.
