After a day at the parks, we swung by Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort to relax and enjoy a drink at Tambu Lounge. To our pleasant surprise, they are now offering a new rum and POG drink with a surfboard souvenir mug.
Papeete Pipeline – $32
Sailor Jerry Spiced Rum, Coconut Rum, Bols Melon Liqueur, Minute Maid Passion Fruit Orange Guava Juice
The drink and cup come together, but we had ours served separately since we’re taking the mug home as a collectible.
The Papeete Pipeline is named after the Papeete Bay Verandah. The Verandah was the Polynesian’s original restaurant when it opened in 1971. It closed in 1994 to make way for ‘Ohana.
This was delicious. POG juice is the base, with spiced rum to add a kick. The melon liqueur enhances the juice, making it even more flavorful and fruity. The coconut rum sets this drink over the top. Hints of coconut pop through in every sip. With the setting of Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort and this drink, we felt like we were in paradise. It’s very refreshing.
We highly recommend stirring the drink up if it sits too long in between sips as the liquor settles at the bottom.
Surfboard Tiki Mug
The ceramic mug is labeled as a tiki mug, though it does not have traditional tiki iconography.
It features a faux-wood grain design on top and sand on the bottom with four surfboards. This one is a red surfboard with a black and white Mickey head design.
Another board is blue with a yellow stripe and nautical imagery, including a life ring, an anchor, and a ship’s wheel.
The yellow surfboard features question marks and exclamation points.
The inside is dark brown.
This mug is a 1st edition designed for Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort.
POG juice fans rejoice and run to the Tambu Lounge. Between the adorable mug and the delicious drink, we will certainly be back for more.
