Will the Guardians of the Galaxy Coaster Make You BARF in EPCOT? What You Need to Know.

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is opening up later this month, but people like Cast Members and Annual Passholders (who were able to snag a reservation) are able to ride before it officially opens!

We were invited by Disney to go on the ride early during a media preview, so now we can answer a VERY important question for you — will this ride made you sick?!

Don’t worry, we’re not going to give you any major spoilers about the ride. However, if you would rather remain completely in the dark about everything having to do with Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, you should turn back now!

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind

Okay, now that that’s out of the way, let’s get into it. This ride has been described by Disney as a family-friendly Omnicoaster, which means that the ride vehicles spin around a full 360 degrees on the track while traveling at high speeds. So, naturally, we’ve been wondering about motion sickness.

Loading Area

The sensation of this ride was like a combo of Space Mountain and Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster — it’s very dark inside! We found that the intensity was between the two coasters, it’s more intense than Space Mountain but less intense than Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster. We even thought it was less intense than Expedition Everest. And, for anyone concerned, this coaster does NOT go upside down, but it does go backwards.

But, Cosmic Rewind is very smooth and it doesn’t stop throughout the ride. The first time we rode through, we felt a little bit nauseous. But the second time…yikes — we were sweatin’ a little bit! We started to get that feeling that you get when you might be sick, but luckily we didn’t actually get sick. However, after the ride, we did have to sit down and take a small break!

However, the other person we rode with didn’t feel sick at all! They felt fine. So, it really just depends on the person, different people may react differently!

If you’re prone to motion sickness, you’ll want to take all of this into account before riding. Maybe take some Dramamine or get some nausea bands for yourself! Whatever usually works best for you.

We know this isn’t the best news for some people (including some of us at DFB), but we hope everyone can find something that makes riding this attraction possible! In the meantime, stay tuned to DFB the latest Disney news and updates.
