If you’re hoping to go to Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party this year, you might be able to start buying those tickets right NOW. On May 11th, 2022, tickets for Not-So-Scary went on sale for Disney World Resort hotel guests. Click here to learn more!

Tickets can be bought online or by calling Disney. Not a hotel guest? No worries. Tickets will go on sale for the general public on May 18th, 2022, so mark those calendars!

How is Disney Doing Financially?

In terms of Disney’s financial standing, we’ve seen stock values dropping lately, so just how is the Company doing in terms of revenue? Well we got our answer recently as Disney released their earnings report for the second quarter of fiscal year 2022, and held an earnings call on the topic.

Overall, Disney reported some big revenues when it comes to their parks division, but missed some analysts’ expectations when it comes to overall revenues and earnings per share.

During the earnings call, we also got to learn some more about Star Wars Hotel availability predictions — in other words, just how FULL Disney’s executives expect the Star Wars Hotel to be for the rest of this year. Click here to see their thoughts.

What about inflation? That’s something that has been on a lot of people’s minds lately. Well, Disney isn’t immune to inflationary concerns or supply chain issues, and they made that clear through their comments on inflation and the impact it is having on the parks. Streaming News

During the earnings call, we also heard some updates about Disney+. While some analysts expected Disney+ to have around 135 million subscribers (CNBC), Disney EXCEEDED those expectations and ended the quarter with 137.7 million subscribers. Click here to see more about this news.

Things could get a bit more interesting soon. While Disney+ subscriber numbers are expected to increase, Disney has shared that their net adds might not be as large as previously expected. (Variety)

In terms of other streaming news, this week we also learned that ads could come to Netflix in 2022

An internal communication has revealed that Netflix intends to introduce this ad-supported tier within the last 3 months of the year. Between an ad-supported tier on Netflix and an ad-supported version of Disney+, more ads might be in your streaming future.

COVID-19 Updates

In terms of COVID-19 in Florida, earlier this week we shared that COVID-19 hospitalizations are increasing in Florida. As of around May 10th, 2022, over 1,000 adults are hospitalized with COVID-19 in Florida.

Other BIG Updates

From hurricanes we turn to…the airport train! We’ve share a lot of updates lately about the train that is set to connect Orlando International Airport and Disney World, but this week we got more info. Turns out Universal Orlando and other partners have now pledged to donate a certain amount of land and money for a train station near the Orange County Convention center as part of the revised route that has been planned for the Brightline Train, under the “Sunshine Corridor” program.

So the airport train to Disney World could be partially funded by…Universal? Apparently so!

When it comes to the situation with Disney World’s Reedy Creek Improvement District, we previously shared that a lawsuit had been filed by some taxpayers against the Florida Governor regarding the dissolution of the District. Now, the lawsuit filed against the Florida Governor regarding the Reedy Creek Improvement District has been dismissed by the Judge on the case.

This is still a developing situation as another lawsuit is set to be filed soon. We’ll be on the lookout for more updates.

And finally, if you were a HUGE fan of that illuminated pavement in EPCOT, we’ve got good news! Illuminated pavement is coming BACK to EPCOT in a new way.

The EPCOT Transformation is not yet complete, and one part of it that has yet to be finished are those illuminated floors. We can’t wait to see them in action!
