There are more than 20 resorts you can stay in on Disney World property. But where should you be staying on your next Disney vacation? And which resorts give you the most bang for your buck?

It can definitely be a tricky decision when it comes to picking your Disney World accommodations — but we want to help. We’re ranking ALL of the Disney World Resort hotels so you know which is truly the best of the best. 

Now, we want our ranking to be as objective as possible. So, we’ve ranked each hotel by six important factors: transportation, location, dining options, value for your money, the swanky factor, and general reader ranking. Shout out to our friends over at AllEars.Net for help with the reader ranking!

The resorts’ scores are tallied from 1 to 10 (10 being the best) in each category and then totaled for an overall score. And, as a note, we won’t be tackling Disney World’s 13 villa options — just the regular hotels. So, let’s get started!

19-21. Disney’s All-Star Resorts

In last place, we’re grouping together the three All-Star Resorts — Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort, Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort, and Disney’s All-Star Music Resort. These value resorts have the lowest-priced rooms that you can find in a Disney World hotel. So, they’re easier on the budget…but let’s look at the whole picture.

Transportation — 1/10

Over at the All-Stars, the only complimentary transportation option is going to be the Disney buses. There’s no Skyliner, no monorail, and no boat — just buses. And, there’s only one bus stop at each hotel, located outside of each lobby. So, it may take a while to get on a bus, especially if you’re trying to catch a ride at the very beginning of the day or end of the night.

Proximity — 2/10

These resorts are close to Disney’s Animal Kingdom, but further away from all of the other parks. So, unless you’re planning on spending a lot of time over at Animal Kingdom, the proximity from the All-Stars is a bit of a con.

Dining — 2/10

These resorts are each home to just one quick-service dining location: World Premiere Food Court at All-Star Movies, Intermission Food Court at All-Star Sports, and End Zone Food Court at All-Star Music.

On one hand, these food courts have a variety of options for you to choose from and they typically stay open later. However, if you’re looking for any fine dining — or just more food options, in general — you’re going to have to make dining reservations at another resort.

Value — 5/10

These resorts have the cheapest rates of any Disney World hotels so the rooms tend to be smaller and the amenities fewer. Still, it’s the least expensive option if you still want to stay on property and have access to all of the Disney World Resort hotel perks.

As a bonus, All-Star Music has family suites you can book if you need more room but also want to keep your hotel costs low. These suites are more expensive than standard rooms, but they can also comfortably sleep six guests.

Swanky Factor — 1/10

These hotels have almost no “swank” — besides larger-than-life theming. If you’re just needing a place to crash after each park day and don’t plan on spending a whole lot of downtime at your resort, you might not mind the missing swanky factor.

Fair warning! These hotels are also popular with sports and youth groups in the past. If you’re not a part of one of these groups, you might not be a fan of the crowds or the noise. Remember — these hotel walls are thin, so you’re going to be able to hear that group of giggling teens or bed-jumping kiddos. Just make sure to pack earplugs or a white noise machine, just in case — especially if you’re a light sleeper.

18. The Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort

Next, we’ve got The Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort. This moderate category resort option is going to be the best option if you’re wanting some extra space without splurging for a suite.

Transportation — 3/10

Fort Wilderness Resort itself is located a short boat ride away from Magic Kingdom, but navigating the sprawling area of the resort itself can take some time — so much time, in fact, that many guests rent or bring golf carts for their stays!

Otherwise, your transportation options are limited to bus travel only to get anywhere other than Magic Kingdom.

Proximity — 3/10

If you want seclusion, you’ve GOT seclusion here. The cabins are stand-alone and separated from other guests. The good news is that means you don’t need to worry about the noise factor. But, you DO need to worry about being pretty far from destinations!

Dining — 5/10

Fort Wilderness has several popular dining options including Trail’s End Restaurant, Hoop Dee Doo Musical Revue, and more. Still, your cabin itself might be pretty far from the central restaurant area.

No worries though, the cabins have their own kitchens! They’ve got everything you’ll need — besides the food — to help you create a home-cooked meal while you’re on vacation.

Bonus! Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort has its own grocery delivery program. You just have to fill out a form ahead of time to let the resort know which groceries you’re going to need for the duration of your stay. On the day of your check-in, these groceries will be dropped off at your door around 5PM. You’re also more than welcome to use other grocery delivery services, such as Amazon Fresh.

Value — 7/10

The cabins might be more expensive than the other moderate options, but you’re going to get a lot more space and a lot more privacy for the price.

Swanky Factor — 2/10

The cabins feel more homey and rustic than swanky. So, if you’re looking for something a little more casual instead of luxurious, they could be worth considering!

17. Disney’s Pop Century Resort

Do you want to be close to the action but still save some money in the process? Then you may want to consider Disney’s Pop Century Resort for your upcoming stay!

Transportation — 7/10

Disney’s Art of Animation and Pop Century Resort share the same Skyliner station, meaning you’ll have Skyliner access to EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios. You can also hit up Disney’s Riviera Resort and Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort if you’re looking for more dining options since they’re located on the Skyliner route too.

If you’re not too keen on using the Skyliner system, the only other complimentary transportation option you can utilize here is the Disney bus system. Buses might be more crowded so it may take longer to get to the parks.

Unfortunately, if you’re relying on Disney transportation to get you to-and-from the parks, you can’t avoid the buses if you’re heading to Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, and Disney Springs; those areas are NOT on the Skyliner route.

Proximity — 5/10

The Skyliner factor definitely ups the proximity score on this one as it’s located in the Hollywood Studios area — though not too close to anything without hopping in a gondola.

Dining — 2/10

Much like the All-Star Resorts, Pop Century only has one quick service location — Everything POP Shopping and Dining. So expect food court-style dining, but nothing more.

That being said, you’re on the Skyliner route! So if you need to swing by a different place to grab a bite, that option is still available for you.

Value — 7/10

Disney’s Pop Century Resort is the cheapest resort on the Skyliner route. It’s affordable AND convenient.

Swanky Factor — 2/10

The theming at this resort is fun, but a little bit lackluster. Pop Century’s atmosphere is based on the decades ranging from the 1950s to the 1990s. So it’s got this “blast-from-the-past” vibe, full of bright colors and “groovy” energy. It’s a fun concept, but it’s getting to feel a little outdated as time goes on!

Plus, those larger-than-life old-school items you can find scattered around the property aren’t nearly as neat as the larger-than-life Disney characters you can pose with at the other value resorts. Another note — this is the BIGGEST value resort with 3,000 rooms available — so expect it to be CROWDED.

16. Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort

If you’re wanting luxury but you’re also on a budget, then Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort might be the moderate resort to book!

Transportation — 1/10

The only complimentary transportation option you have is the bus system. On top of that, each bus makes multiple stops around the resort so your trip can be even longer AND those buses can fill up.

Proximity — 2/10

This hotel is fairly far away from the Disney parks — so getting to-and-from places using Disney’s complimentary transportation can take a big chunk out of your day.

Despite being a bit far from everything, you can see the EPCOT AND Hollywood Studios fireworks from Gran Destino’s Dahlia Lounge. Their outdoor seating provides patio benches, coffee tables, and comfy pillows that you can lounge on while enjoying the shows from afar.

Dining — 6/10

Coronado Springs has a LOT of dining and a lot of variety. With multiple lounges, a rooftop restaurant, a sports bar, a table service option on the lake, a food court, and more — you probably won’t need more options.

Still, Coronado Springs doesn’t have any particularly famous or iconic Disney restaurants available.

Value — 7/10

This resort is GORGEOUS — especially the Gran Destino Tower section of this hotel, which opened back in 2019. The Gran Destino Tower section transformed this already-stylish Mexico-inspired setting into something very cosmopolitan — giving the resort a deluxe feel at a moderate price range.

As classy as this resort is, it doesn’t capture that over-the-top Disney vibe that younger kiddos might be missing when staying here. If you’re looking for a more family-friendly resort, you may want to study up on this one a bit more before booking a room here — since it’s going to provide way more upscale vibes than the other moderate hotels.

Swanky Factor — 7/10

This resort has a surprisingly swanky vibe. That means you should expect a LOT more amenities here — such as fine dining, lounges, spa services, extra gyms, and fireworks dining. Coronado Springs also has the biggest hot tub on Disney property! You can find it over at the Dig Site — a pool area themed around the Mayan ruins.

This is more of a conference resort, complete with its own business center. So if you’re here for work OR you’re on a honeymoon and you don’t really NEED Mickey plastered all over the walls and decor, then this might fit your needs.

15. Disney’s Old Key West Resort

Disney’s Old Key West Resort is another hotel that’s going to provide you with a lot of space to stretch out.

Transportation — 3/10

The bus is going to be your only option to most destinations. Disney Springs is the exception as you can take a boat over. Unfortunately, this resort also has internal stops. So, don’t be surprised if it takes a bit before you can board a bus over to the parks.

Proximity — 3/10

A big bonus of this resort is its proximity to Disney Springs. It’s just a short boat ride away! Otherwise, you’re a bit of a distance from other destinations in Disney World.

Within the resort, expect a lot of walking to and from the different restaurants, recreational areas, and bus stops. This one is VERY spread out — much like Coronado Springs.

Dining — 6/10

This resort has a smaller selection of dining but is home to what many consider a big winner. Olivia’s Cafe is widely considered an AWESOME table service spot and it can be found just outside of the lobby.

Value — 5/10

Out of all Disney Vacation Club resorts, Old Key West has the biggest rooms to offer, making them more comfortable for bigger travel parties to share.

It’s also one of Disney’s more peaceful and relaxing resorts. If you’re looking for a resort that captures those tropical island vibes, then you might find that palm tree and steel drum atmosphere you’re looking for right here!

Swanky Factor — 6/10

You can spend a day here unwinding with all of the resort’s recreational offerings. Old Key West has several pools, three tennis courts, shuffleboard, golf, and more.

You’re also not going to find a lot of Disney whimsy here. Once again, this resort specializes in having a lounge-the-day-away atmosphere. So, if you need a break away from all the Disney characters and storytelling, just to enjoy the Floridian atmosphere, Old Key West has you covered.

14. Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort and Spa

Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort and Spa is the best resort for those who love that late 1800s upstate New York vibes when horse racing was all-the-rage and want to spend a lot of time in Disney Springs.

Transportation — 4/10

You can walk and boat to Disney Springs, but otherwise, you’re stuck with a moderately lengthy bus ride to get around. And, beware of those internal stops again!

Proximity — 5/10

Saratoga Springs is just across the water from Disney Springs, so walking here is going to be a lot less energy on your part than walking from Disney’s Old Key West Resort. Still, you’re rather far from other Disney World locations.

And the resort itself is spread out. This is a rather large resort, so it’s easy to get lost when trying to locate the different amenities featured on the property.

Dining — 5/10

However, when you DO find all the different offerings on the resort, you’ll be in for a nice surprise! The bars, lounges, and dining options are plentiful, including areas such as the quick service Artist’s Palette, The Turf Club Lounge, and The Paddock Grill.

Value — 4/10

This is a pricier resort that caters to those looking for a quiet retreat away from the hustle-and-bustle of intense Disney theming. You’ll also find a number of suite options!

Swanky Factor — 6/10

This resort leans into the swanky factor with that theme. There’s just something that feels inherently fancy about horse racing. Saratoga Springs also has Senses — A Disney Spa at Disney’s Saratoga Springs.

13. Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside

Disney’s Port Orleans Riverside Resort is great for those who want Disney theming to the max.

Transportation — 4/10

No, Riverside isn’t as close to Disney Springs as Saratoga and Old Key West are, but there is boat transportation that’ll take you over to the shopping district. Otherwise, you’re limited to taking the bus — a bus that’s shared with Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter.

Proximity — 5/10

As we mentioned, this resort is fairly close to Disney Springs too! That means it’s not too far from the parks with the longest distance being to Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Still, it’s not particularly close either.

Once again, this resort falls victim to being beautiful and peaceful, but also really spread out. So try requesting a room that’s closer to the lobby so you don’t have to walk as far to get over to the bus stop. That doesn’t mean you’ll be guaranteed a closer room, but it never hurts to ask!

Dining — 5/10

This resort has a few different dining options for you to choose from. If you’re in the mood for something quick, the Riverside Mill Food Court will set you up in a jiff.

However, if you’re looking for southern hospitality and a sit-down meal, then you can make your way on over to Boatwright’s Dining Hall for some New-Orleans style options

Value — 4/10

Port Orleans Riverside rooms are usually the lowest priced when it comes to Disney’s moderate hotels.

Swanky Factor — 5/10

Though Port Orleans might not be that swanky, it does have some pretty amazing themed rooms. You may want to consider a stay in one of Riverside’s Royal Guest Rooms.

These rooms are heavily themed to Disney royalty with Magic Carpet flooring, beautiful wall art of your favorite Disney princesses, a personalized letter from Tiana welcoming you as her distinguished guest, and more.

12. Disney’s Art of Animation Resort

According to our ranking, Disney’s Art of Animation Resort is the BEST value resort on Disney World property. It’s a great hotel for families, particularly if you’re needing some more space and you’re willing to pay for it.

Transportation — 7/10

This resort also falls on the Skyliner route — giving it the same advantages as the Pop Century Resort, as well as the same downfalls. AKA: Expect LOOOONG wait times at the beginning and end of your park days when it comes to traveling over to Magic Kingdom and Disney’s Animal Kingdom by bus.

Proximity — 5/10

The Skyliner is certainly a plus for this hotel and it’s got a pretty central location in the Disney’s Hollywood Studios resort area.

Dining — 3/10

There is only one dining option at this hotel and it’s food court style. Still, we’ve had some pretty good eats at Landscape of Flavors.

Value — 6/10

Now, the family suites at this resort are going to be pricy compared to the other moderates but you’re getting a LOT of space including two bathrooms (!!!).

If you don’t need as much space and you’re wanting to save some money (because, admittedly, those family rooms at Art of Animation can get pretty steep — especially if you’re staying in one during peak vacation travel times), you can always choose a room over in The Little Mermaid section of the resort.

Swanky Factor — 3/10

This is NOT a swanky resort with some of the most heavily themed rooms on property. But, the theme feels well done and intricate, so it’s at least a bit nicer than the other values.

If you’re looking for a bigger room for bigger families, you can stay in the Cars section, the Lion King section, or the Finding Nemo section of the resort.

11. Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort

Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort is a favorite for some and a less exciting option for others.

Transportation — 7/10

When it comes to moderate hotels, Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort arguably has the best transportation options.

Caribbean Beach has two Skyliner stations: the main hub and the Riviera station. Just make sure to keep an eye on the weather. If there’s lightning in the nearby area, the Skyliner will shut down — meaning you’ll have to wait for the “all clear” (however long that might take) or rely on the buses instead.

This large resort gets to be pretty hoppin’ since guests riding the Skyliner will have to transfer over to another Skyliner gondola at the main hub to reach their final destination.

Although this method of transportation is usually a much quicker way to reach EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios, expect bigger wait times at the main hub during the parks’ opening and closing hours.

Proximity — 5/10

This resort is also pretty centrally located on the Skyliner line, but your proximity to the lobby from your room might leave something to be desired.

This is a LARGE resort and getting around can be a loooong walk; some rooms are 15-20 minutes from the lobby area.

Dining — 4/10

The dining at Caribbean Beach is really only okay. However, you can always walk over to the Riviera Resort to enjoy some higher-quality dining.

Value — 4/10

Value-wise, Caribbean Beach starts to get into the realm of pricier hotels at Disney World and guests tend to be split on whether or not it’s worth it.

Swanky Factor — 5/10

Much like Port Orleans Riverside, Caribbean Beach also has a specialty room option…PIRATE ROOMS.

In the Pirates Room, the beds are shaped like pirate ships, a coffee table takes on the appearance of Captain Jack’s trusty compass, and the bedroom curtain adorns the signature skull-and-crossbones that Pirates of the Caribbean fans know all too well. Just a note that these Pirate rooms are set to CLOSE in 2023.

10. Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter

And now for the favorite of the moderate resorts, Disney’s Port Orleans – French Quarter!

Transportation — 5/10

Just like at Riverside, this resort has boat access to Disney Springs as well! Other destinations are reachable via bus.

Just like many of the other resorts, the bus transportation can prove finicky over here — especially since Port Orleans Riverside and French Quarter sometimes share a bus route. So during peak travel seasons, expect crowded buses and longer travel times to and from the parks.

Proximity — 4/10

French Quarter is conveniently located in the Disney Springs area. It’s not the closest to desirable Disney World locations, but it’s not too far either.

Dining — 5/10

Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory is one of the best — if not THE best — food court style quick services featured in a Disney resort. You’ll find shrimp and grits, jambalaya, gumbo, and other cajun flavors that’ll prove to you just how good food court dining can really be.

And don’t forget, French Quarter is the home of Mickey Beignets! Plus, you can head over to Scat Cat’s Club and pick your flavor! You can get standard beignets, fruit-centered beignets, and even boozy beignets.

Value — 7/10

Though this resort is in the moderate price range, most people consider the excellent theming, convenience, and much-loved dining to be worth the price.

Swanky Factor — 5/10

Port Orleans French Quarter has such a fun Mardi-Gras vibe at all times. This resort is smaller than Riverside’s, meaning you’re going to have fewer people staying here and an easier time navigating the resort and all its offerings.

Reader Rank — 9/10

9. Disney’s Riviera Resort

Disney’s Riviera Resort is probably your best bet if you’re wanting to stay somewhere modern and luxurious. It’s a smaller and more intimate DVC deluxe resort.

Transportation — 7/10

This resort has its own Skyliner station! And to get to it, you can walk under these incredible mosaic murals, featuring the movies Tangled and Peter Pan.

The downside of this station is that guests traveling from EPCOT have to stay on board and ride right on past this station without exiting — meaning it may take guests staying at the Riviera longer to board an empty gondola — especially at the beginning and end of the day.

Proximity — 6/10

Location-wise, Riviera has a pretty good spot. It’s in the center of Disney World so buses to the parks won’t take long and the Skyliner ride isn’t too lengthy whether you’re going to EPCOT or Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Dining — 7/10

Riviera has a few great dining options on-site. Its most popular option available is Topolino’s Terrace — a character dining restaurant where the Fab Five come out dressed in their best artsy-fartsy attire.

This restaurant is located on the rooftop of the Riviera and features different Italian specialties like antipasti, seafood dishes, handmade pasta, and signature wines. The other, smaller dining locations are fairly upscale and tasty, too!

Value — 1/10

Now, this resort is WAY TOO EXPENSIVE to stay here if you’re not using DVC Points. If you’re not a DVC member, consider reaching out to a DVC rental service and booking a hotel that way instead of directly through Disney’s website.

Swanky Factor — 8/10

The rooms are nice and sleek and give off those posh European vibes, but they’re way smaller than the other deluxe resort rooms and still cost just as much, if not more.

If you do stay at the Riviera and you’re traveling with a larger group, consider pitching in to splurge on one of those beautiful three-bedroom grand villas with a full kitchen, fancy dining area, three full bathrooms, and gorgeous views of the property.

8. Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge Resort

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge will give you a unique vacation experience, for sure.

Transportation — 4/10

You can only use a bus to get from place to place. Compared to other Disney World transportation options, the buses are notoriously slow, so this is certainly a downside.

Proximity — 5/10

Though this resort is super close to Disney’s Animal Kingdom (which makes sense, right?), it’s pretty far away from the other three parks.

Dining — 9/10

This resort has some of the best dining on Disney World property — like Boma, The Mara, Sanaa, and Jiko. The African-inspired cuisine tends to be a favorite for many Disney fans.

Value — 6/10

Animal Kingdom Lodge is EXPENSIVE, but it is the least expensive of the value resorts (closely tied with Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Resort).

If you want that deluxe feel, this resort is going to offer you some of the lowest prices.

Swanky Factor — 8/10

When you stay at Animal Kingdom Lodge, you’ll have the opportunity to book a room with views of this resort’s FOUR savannas. According to the Disney website, Animal Kingdom Lodge is home to over 200 different animals.

7. Disney’s BoardWalk Inn

Do you love high-end nostalgia and hip-happenin’ nightlife shindigs? Then mosey on over to Disney’s BoardWalk Inn!

Transportation — 8/10

You not only have the Skyliner close by for your disposal, but you can also WALK to EPCOT’s International Gateway from the BoardWalk Inn. Not having to worry about fighting EPCOT’s post-fireworks crowds? Yes, sign us up, please.

Proximity — 9/10

The EPCOT resort area is truly one of the most convenient locations on the property. You have access to the Skyliner and you can walk to EPCOT AND Hollywood Studios.

Plus, when you DO take the bus, you’re pretty centrally located in Disney World. It shouldn’t be too long no matter your destination!

Dining — 8/10

The BoardWalk has a LOT of dining — like a lot. You have access to the entire BoardWalk with its brewery, ice cream shop, dueling piano bar, Italian restaurant, and more. This resort certainly gets points for variety even if none of the table service spots are that iconic.

You can also walk over to the Yacht and Beach Club Resort since the Boardwalk strip wraps around and connects to the other two resorts. Meaning you also have their dining options available to choose from, too. And a lot of new dining is coming to the BoardWalk as well. You can read all about the NEW dining options here!

Value — 4/10

You’re paying high prices here and you are paying for location, location, location. The rooms can feel a tad outdated, but being steps away from EPCOT can certainly make up for it.

Swanky Factor — 6/10

This deluxe resort gives you the best of three worlds — it’s fancy AND beachy AND vintage, all wrapped up into one. (Although if you’re not a huge fan of the latter of the options, you might feel as if your room is more outdated rather than “vintage.”)

6. Disney’s Wilderness Lodge

Over at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, you can feel like you’re in sync with nature while also keeping your resort stay comfy and upscale.

Transportation — 6/10

You’ll have bus transportation available — per usual — but you can take a boat directly over to Magic Kingdom.

Proximity — 7/10

At Wilderness Lodge, you’ll experience a touch of that secluded and quiet atmosphere while also keeping close to Magic Kingdom.

If you just happen to be near the boat dock or beachside around 9:35 PM, you’ll get to watch the Electric Water Pageant parade itself across the Seven Seas Lagoon. And, if you’re at these locations just a tad earlier (say, around Magic Kingdom fireworks time?) you might also catch a glimpse of some of the spectacular from afar.

Dining — 8/10

You’ve got a lot of good dining options here like Whispering Canyon Cafe, Geyser Point Bar and Grill, and Roaring Fork.

When it’s available, Wilderness Lodge also has Storybook Dining at Artist Point — a character meal featuring the cast of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

Value — 6/10

You might remember that this resort tends to tie for cheapest of the deluxe hotels with Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge. Still pricey compared to the lower categories, but not as sky-high expensive as the other fancy hotels.

Swanky Factor — 8/10

And this resort certainly feels upscale. It has one of the grandest lobbies of any of the hotels and the building, rooms, and outdoor areas are all GORGEOUS.

5. Disney’s Yacht Club Resort

Calling all water park fans! You’re going to LOVE this resort!

Transportation — 8/10

Because BoardWalk Inn, Beach Club, and Yacht Club are all within walking distance of each other, that means they’re ALL within walking distance to EPCOT’s International Gateway AND EPCOT’s Skyliner system.

Proximity — 9/10

Yep, we’ve got another EPCOT area resort scoring BIG points in the proximity category.

Dining — 8/10

Another great thing about Yacht Club is that it’s home to Crew’s Cup Lounge. It’s cozy, it’s homey, and it’s a great place to have something to snack on with a refreshing drink.

The resort also has two table service restaurants. First is the Yachtsman Steakhouse, which serves up top-of-the-line steaks. The other table service restaurant, Ale and Compass, also serves up steaks — and seafood too.

Value — 4/10

This is one of the most expensive resorts on property. Again, you’re paying for that location. Be warned though! If you’re looking for true luxury, the Disney resorts probably won’t cut it.

Swanky Factor — 7/10

Disney’s Yacht Club Resort is home to Stormalong Bay — the ONLY Disney resort swimming area you could technically classify as a mini-waterpark. Stormalong Bay has a sand-bottom pool, a 230-foot water slide, a lazy river, and three whirlpool spas. If you’re staying at Disney’s Beach Club Resort, you’ll also have access to Stormalong Bay.

Yacht Club is another one of those resorts that, even though it has a stellar waterpark the kiddos will enjoy, it also has more of a “stuffy sailor” vibe to it. Similar to Coronado Springs, this resort is often utilized for conferences and business meet-ups. So, if you’re looking for more color and whimsy, you may be better off with one of the other resorts that feature the fun-themed character rooms.

4. Disney’s Beach Club Resort

Disney’s Beach Club Resort is VERY similar to Disney’s Yacht Club

Transportation — 8/10

This is the closest resort to the EPCOT Skyliner station and like the other two EPCOT resort area hotels, you also have access to the Friendship Boats to get to EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Proximity — 10/10

Wow! A perfect proximity score! Like Yacht Club and BoardWalk Inn, Beach Club makes the two parks in this area walkable but it is by far the closest resort to a park anywhere on property. It’s just over 100 steps from the resort to the park — we counted!

Dining — 8/10

It’s also the home to the table service restaurant, Beaches and Cream — a diner-like setting with some of the best ice cream sundaes you can find. And, if you’re feeling REALLY brave, you and your travel party can attempt to take on the Beaches and Cream specialty sundae — The Kitchen Sink.

You’ll also find Cape May Cafe — an all-you-care-to-enjoy menu that serves up a variety of surf-and-turf options.

Value — 5/10

Like Yacht Club, Beach Club tends to be pricy but you’re getting a LOT of benefits at that price.

Swanky Factor — 7/10

The atmosphere here is just a little less business-y and more… well… beach-y. Disney’s Beach Club has a sandy beachside where you can kick back and relax in one of the many outdoor lounge chairs, swing on one of the outdoor swings, or take a catnap in one of the hammocks.

3. Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort

Alright, top three! If you fork over a moolah for one of the rooms at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, you can expect great theming, great dining, and great transportation methods.

Transportation — 8/10

You have SEVERAL transportation options to choose from to get to the park. You can take the monorail, the boat, the bus, or you can even just walk on over. You can also use the monorail transportation system to ride over to EPCOT.

Proximity — 9/10

Aside from the fun dining options here, you’re also SUPER close to Magic Kingdom. Because of the Polynesian’s proximity to Magic Kingdom, you’ll be able to watch the fireworks from several areas around the resort — including the ‘Ohana restaurant, the beachside area, or even your room (if you requested to stay in a Fireworks-viewing hotel room, that is).

You can also see the Electric Water Pageant make its way across Seven Seas Lagoon at the end of the night!

Dining — 9/10

The Polynesian is also home to Ohana and Trader Sam’s — which have become a couple of cult-favorite dining areas in the Disney community.

Ohana is a signature dining location with a prix-fixe menu of Polynesian flavors, featuring grilled teriyaki beef, peel and eat shrimp, and — of course — those famous Ohana Noodles.

Trader Sam’s is an interactive bar that fills up pretty quickly! If you want to enjoy the shenanigans that go on over here, you’ll have to get in line to put your name on the waiting list at least 30 minutes before the bar opens.

Value — 5/10

A trend you’ll notice with our top three is that they are EXPENSIVE — Disney World’s most expensive hotels, in fact. You’re getting bang for your buck, but it’s a lot of bucks. These hotels are out of many a Disney guest’s price range.

Swanky Factor — 9/10

The rooms at Polynesian Resort were recently reimagined to take on a Moana-inspired ambiance. The changes provide a balance of classy island vibes while also incorporating beloved Disney characters, so adults and kiddos alike can enjoy these new changes.

2. Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa

Let’s talk about…Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa — the second place resort on this list.

Transportation — 9/10

This resort has the same transportation benefits as Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, meaning you can get to Magic Kingdom by complimentary transportation via monorail or boat — OR you can walk over to the park. Up to you!

Proximity — 10/10

This is one of the two closest resorts to Magic Kingdom. Walking to Disney World’s most popular park is certainly deserving of a perfect score.

Dining — 8/10

Grand Floridian also has several dining options available, including a AAA 5-Diamond restaurant, Victoria and Albert’s, that provides its guests with either a 7, 10, or 11-course meal. (It’s… definitely an investment — costing, on average, around $250 per guest).

Value — 4/10

The Grand Floridian is going to be the resort you wanna splurge your budget on if you’re celebrating something EXTRAVAGANT — whether that be a honeymoon, a wedding, a vow renewal, a babymoon, or an anniversary…this iconic resort is known for its romantic and high-class atmosphere.

In case you haven’t noticed, this is NOT a great resort for those on a budget. You’re going to pay the most for a standard room here.

If you know you want to spend a lot of time at your resort and savor the amenities offered, this could be a good hotel option for you. But if you’re planning on spending the majority of the time in the parks and aren’t considering taking at least one day to just hang out and enjoy your resort, then — even with it being ranked high up on this list — we might not recommend it.

Swanky Factor — 10/10

So WHY is the Grand Floridian THE most extravagant resort in Disney World? For starters, it’s the home of Disney’s Wedding pavilion — where you can get married to your soulmate in a white-and-gold chapel with a breathtaking view of Cinderella Castle.

1. Disney’s Contemporary Resort

And last but not least, the BEST of the best — according to the rankings — is… *drum roll please* … Disney’s Contemporary Resort!

Transportation — 9/10

Much like the last couple of entries on this list, you’ll be able to easily hop on over to the Magic Kingdom from here. In fact, the monorail system extends straight on through the middle of this resort!

Proximity — 10/10

And yep, Contemporary is even CLOSER to Magic Kingdom than Grand Floridian (by a matter of steps at least).

Dining — 8/10

Contemporary has a relatively new restaurant with Steakhouse 71 — a casual steakhouse inspired by Disney World’s opening year. This spot has become pretty popular for its eats although it isn’t the most desirable reservation at the hotel…

That title goes to California Grill, another signature restaurant that’s also a fan favorite. California Grill is located on the 15th floor of the hotel and is one of the best dining locations to watch Magic Kingdom’s fireworks.

You can either enjoy them from the comfort of your table OR watch them out on the restaurant’s private observation deck. Either way, California Grill will pump the show’s music through the restaurant and dim the lights to enhance your viewing of the spectacular.

Chef Mickey’s is another popular restaurant. Here, you can experience character dining and say hello to the Fab Five as they grace the dining area while sporting their super adorable chef outfits.

The Contemporary also has a quick service location, Contempo Cafe, with fresh selections and seasonal pastries in their bakery display case. AND, they’ve even got their own coffee shop on the first floor called Contemporary Grounds! So many options to choose from here!

Value — 5/10

Yes, the Contemporary is another high-priced deluxe option that isn’t the greatest option for travel parties on a budget, but if your heart is set on staying here, you can always check out rates for the Contemporary’s Garden Wing rooms — which are in a separate building from the main Contemporary tower but are still adjacent to the main building.

The Garden Wing rooms will be listed on the website at a cheaper price per night. Or you could forget about saving money altogether and splurge for the theme park view room so you can see fireworks from your balcony nightly. You only live once, right?

Swanky Factor — 9/10

The Contemporary is the best option for those who want an iconic Disney World experience. Along with Disney’s Polynesian Resort, the Contemporary was one of the first Disney World resorts, opening back on October 1, 1971.

Although the nostalgia surrounding this resort is one of the reasons why longtime Disney fans love it so much, some people found the theme to be a bit dated and the rooms to be bland. However, the Contemporary Resort is currently undergoing some major renovations that’ll change all that. Many of the rooms are already updated to an Incredibles theme!

Rather, you should look at each of the breakdowns and consider what the best option is going to be for you and your travel party.
