Disney Cruise Line took delivery of their new ship, the Disney Wish, in a traditional maritime ceremony at Bremerhaven, Germany. Captain Minnie, Disney Cruise Line executives, and Meyer Werft shipyard representatives were present for the ceremony.
Delivery is the final milestone of a ship’s construction when Disney Cruise Line takes ownership from the shipyard. Disney Cruise Line presented Meyer Werft with a Cinderella statuette similar to the life-size bronze statue in the Grand Hall of the Disney Wish.
Disney Cruise Line President Thomas Mazloum and Meyer Werft Managing Director Jan Meyer signed official documents transferring ownership of the Disney Wish.
The crew lowered the Meyer Werft flag and raised the Disney Cruise Line flag on the ship.
The Disney Wish has now begun its transatlantic voyage from Bremerhaven to Port Canaveral, Florida, captained by Marco Nogara.
It will set sail on its maiden voyage on July 14, 2022.
