When was the last time you visited Disney World?
If it’s been a while — or even if it hasn’t — things might look a little bit different than your last visit. There are new dining locations like Space 22o and Connections Eatery, plus brand new attractions and even newer ones being built! With so much going on, it’s important to keep up with all the big changes. That’s why we’ve put together a list of the biggest Disney World construction updates from this week!
Magic Kingdom
TRON: Lightcycle Run
Disney Cast Members and construction crews have been working on this attraction for years, and we’re still seeing the fruits of that labor come together week by week. We recently saw a large truck move into the construction zone, and more areas are being cleared for what looks like more concrete potentially.
Disney hasn’t shared much in terms of opening timeline, but we can expect a thrilling, two-wheeled coaster experience at some point in the future!
Everything You Need to Know About the TRON Ride!
Walt Disney World Railroad
In order for construction to begin on TRON in Magic Kingdom, the Walt Disney World Railroad had to shut down. While the ride was closed, Disney took the opportunity to do some refurbishment on the railroad.
Recently, we’ve spotted new railroad tracks being laid down all throughout the park.
Much like the case with TRON, the Walt Disney World Railroad has no scheduled opening date. We’re keeping an eye out for updates, so stay tuned.
Center Street
There’s one less spot to take a seat on Main Street, U.S.A. over by Crystal Arts. The back area of Center Street has been walled off.
For seating nearby in the meantime, check out Casey’s Corner or even the hub!

EPCOT
Journey of Water — Inspired by Moana
We’re taking a break from your regularly scheduled rock programming to bring you an update on some of the less organic structures taking shape at this attraction. The structure on the left almost even looks complete!
Slowly but surely, this immersive, water-based attraction is taking shape, and we can’t wait to stay tuned!

Germany Pavilion
Over in Germany, there’s only one way in and out to catch a glimpse of the miniature train village — for now. Part of the viewing bridge is being worked on and is closed off.
There’s some pavement refurbishment happening in the Germany Pavilion as well, though we don’t expect this to impact your visit.
We’ll keep an eye on this and let you know if anything changes!
Japan Pavilion
In the Japan Pavilion, pavement work continues as well. Little by little, Cast Members have been working on updating parts of the ground.
Just like with Germany, we don’t expect this to impact your visit but will keep an eye out for any changes!

Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Toy Story Mania Gift Shop
Last week we reported that a portion of the decorations for Toy Story Mania had been painted over. We’re happy to say that a fresh coat of paint has been applied and the K*Nex box is back once again!
At the moment, guests are being rerouted through a detour after exiting this attraction, as the normal gift shop exit is being renovated.

Disney Resorts
Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort
Over at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort, we’ve been monitoring the updates and work on the Big Pine Key building. This building is being renovated into what will eventually be 200 new Disney Vacation Club Villas.
Disney has shared concept art of the villas, and work is expected to be completed later this summer.

Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort
The Polynesian Village Resort is also getting an update, as a brand new building will eventually be constructed — complete with new DVC rooms, dining locations, and even shops!
For now, construction has caused several areas of the Polynesian to be walled off, though the resort is open.

If you’re planning an upcoming Disney World vacation, keep in mind that things are always changing in the parks. For example, beginning on June 8th Disney Genie+ (the paid way to skip standby lines in the parks) will only be available to purchase the day of your park visit.
And don’t forget, in addition to valid park admission Disney is still requiring guests use the Park Pass Reservation System. Make sure your entire party has valid park reservations so you don’t get caught stranded!
