It’s About to Get Harder to Fly to Disney World From These 4 Cities

It’s no secret that it’s getting harder to travel.

It’s getting harder to travel

The price of gas continues to fluctuate and airlines are frequently canceling and delaying flights. JetBlue has already announced that they would be cancelling many flights this summer, and now an airline has made the decision to stop service to some cities.

American Airlines recently announced that it would be stopping service to four smaller cities in the United States due to a shortage of pilots, according to CNBC.

The four cities losing service are Islip, NY; Ithaca, NY; Toledo, Ohio, and Dubuque, Iowa. For Dubuque, this means that the city will be losing scheduled commercial air service entirely. Each city will lose the service on September 7th.

Airplane

This isn’t an isolated incident. United Airlines recently announced plans to cut 50 flights per day at Newark Airport, the airline’s hub, beginning on July 1st in an effort to reduce the number of flight delays travelers experience, according to CNBC. United says it has no plans to cut service to any airports at this time, but is instead choosing to reduce service to help mitigate problems.

United Airlines is cutting flights in order to reduce delays.

According to the flight tracking website FlightAware, from January to the middle of June, 31% of flights at Newark were delayed, making it the U.S. airport with the second highest number of delays, right behind Chicago Midway.

With 4th of July expected to be a major travel holiday, it will be interesting to see what happens as Americans hit the road and the skies. If you’re driving, AAA says to expect the worst traffic on Thursday, June 30th and Friday, July 1st.

Many Americans, however, are not traveling this summer due to high cost of both airfare and gas, as well as the rising cost of living due to inflation. We’ll be keeping an eye on the travel situation, especially as 4th of July weekend approaches, so make sure to stay tuned to DFB for the latest information.
