According to The Hollywood Reporter, Peter Rice, Chairman of General Entertainment Content for The Walt Disney Company, is leaving the company.
Rice is reportedly exiting the company after being “summoned” to a meeting with Disney CEO Bob Chapek on Monday. Rice joined the Walt Disney Company in 2019 when the company acquired 21st Century Fox’s television and film divisions.
In his role at Disney, Rice oversaw the entertainment and news programming for Disney+, Star, and Hulu, in addition to the Walt Disney Company’s cable and broadcast networks.
Dana Walden (who also made the move from Fox to Disney) will be taking over for Rice.
Sources claim that Peter Rice had several years left on his current contract, and is set to receive a significant payout.
