The French Market Restaurant in New Orleans Square at Disneyland is serving up a new parfait: a pirate p-arrr-fait, that is.
Pirate P-arrr-fait – $7.99
Vanilla rum-flavored baba, vanilla-pineapple compote, rum-flavored mousse, and assorted decorations
This was absolutely delicious. Rum baba is a dish we had never tried before and we are hooked. It’s almost like a dinner roll but fluffier and soaked in vanilla rum syrup. Not real rum, but cooked-down or rum-flavored syrup.
Atop that is a rum mousse which, although it didn’t taste like rum, was still very pleasant and melded well with the baba. The decorations on top included a beach on the water, flecked with chocolate gold nuggets, and an X marking the spot with a white chocolate pirate Mickey flag.
Everything worked together, making for a well-balanced dish that was just sweet enough without being overpowering. It would be perfect as a dessert at the end of a meal or as a standalone sweet treat.
