It’s been a BIG week for the Disney Wish — the newest cruise ship to join the Disney Cruise Line fleet.
We played, explored, ate, drank, and even slid our way around the Wish, and now we’re sharing everything you need to know. From Marvel-themed dining experiences to the first-ever attraction at sea, we’ve done it all. And now, we’re taking a look at ANOTHER dining option on the Disney Wish — Mickey and Friends Festival of Foods — so let’s check it out!
Welcome to Mickey and Friends Festival of Foods, where you can nosh on some eats and treats themed after the Fab Five! You know them, you love them, but how does their Festival of Foods hold up? Let’s find out!
Atmosphere
The Mickey and Friends Festival of Foods is a selection of several quick service restaurants, including Mickey’s Smokestack Barbecue, Donald’s Cantina, Daisy’s Pizza Pies, Goofy’s Grill, and Sweet Minnie’s Ice Cream. It’s kind of like a food court, and there’s enough food to satisfy a variety of tastes!
These restaurants serve food pretty much all day, and most of the food is included in the price of your cruise — so you don’t need to shell out extra cash for a lot of these menu items.
You’ll also find a barbecue sauce bar…
…and a hot sauce bar as well!
Let’s take a look at the menus.
Menu
We decided to check out Mickey’s Smokestack Barbecue on one visit to the Festival of Foods. Mickey’s serves BBQ Smoked Brisket Carving, St. Louis Pork, Smoked Chicken, BBQ Smoked Pulled Pork, and Smoked Kielbasa Sausage. Side dishes include Baked Mac & Cheese, Collard Greens, Sweet Potato Fries, and Texas Jalapeño Corn Bread.
We also checked out some items at Daisy’s Pizza Pies, and there they serve up Prosciutto Pizza, Four Cheese Pizza, Pepperoni Sausage Pizza, Margarita Pizza, and a Plant-Based Sausage Pizza.
Donald’s Cantina will scratch that Mexican food itch with build-your-own tacos, burritos, and bowls! You can get your choice of fajita beef, fajita chicken, pork carnitas, rice, beans, or fajita vegetables and a choice of guacamole, salsa, sour cream, queso blanco, or a Mexican cheese blend to top it all off!
And over at Sweet Minnie’s Ice Cream, guests can choose between vanilla, chocolate, and vanilla-chocolate swirl soft-serve!
Eats
Since this is a quick service spot, you’ll just head up to the counter to order what you want! We decided to try the BBQ Smoked Brisket Carving, BBQ Smoked Pulled Pork, Smoked Kielbasa Sausage, Baked Mac & Cheese, Sweet Potato Fries, and Texas Jalapeño Corn Bread.
Let’s start off with the meats. The smoked pulled pork didn’t taste smoked to us at all, which is essentially the main flavor in pulled pork. Most of the flavor came when we added in some barbecue sauce. The brisket was a little better flavor-wise, but it was somehow both fatty and dry at the same time! The smoked sausage was also lacking in flavor, and ours wasn’t very warm which didn’t make for a very pleasant experience.
We did enjoy the mac and cheese, though it was your standard Disney buffet mac and cheese — not that there’s anything wrong with that! The breadcrumbs on top didn’t seem to be “baked” in and were just kind of sprinkled on top. The sweet potato fries were probably our favorite item on this plate. They were perfectly cooked and crispy on the outside and nice and fluffy on the inside.
The Texas Jalapeño Cornbread was a little dry on the inside, but had a good flavor overall. There wasn’t too much spice from the addition of the jalapeño, it was more like a hint of flavor was there. It could have been a little warmer and we probably would have enjoyed it more! Overall, Mickey’s Smokestack Barbecue didn’t impress us this time.
We also tried a slice from Daisy’s Pizza Pies! We went with the Margherita Pizza, which is made with San Marzano tomato sauce, vine tomatoes, mozzarella cheese, and basil. Overall, it wasn’t anything TOO special — but it absolutely hit the spot! You can get fresh slices here, and if the kind you want isn’t ready, the Cast Members can make it in 7 minutes!
This would be a great spot for picky eaters or late night pizza cravings.
Over at Donald’s Cantina, we decided to build our own bowl — and boy are we glad we did. This was by far our favorite of the Festival of Foods spots we tried. Think Chipotle, but Disney cruise edition. All of the ingredients tasted super fresh, and the chicken we got in our bowl was super flavorful and not too spicy. Plus, the hot sauce bar means the possibilities are nearly endless!
And of course, to top it all of we had to end things with some ice cream from Sweet Minnie’s! This is your classic soft-serve ice cream, but it absolutely hit the spot. You can get chocolate, vanilla, or a swirl of both. Our only complaint with this spot is that we wish there were more flavors — but we were perfectly happy with the swirl we got.
We may be done eating our way around the Disney Wish (for now!) but you can be sure we’ll bring you the latest updates for this ship and beyond! Don’t forget to stay tuned to DFB for more.
