Lotus Blossom Cafe at EPCOT has been a go-to of mine for a while now. I am a sucker for food court Chinese food, so I loved this location. I hadn’t eaten at this location since last year, so I decided to check it out and see if anything has changed. The menu is still limited in comparison to what it was before the pandemic. The old menu had great options like Shrimp Fried Rice, Sichuan Spicy Chicken, Sesame Chicken Salad, and Beef Noodles Mongolian Style. I was sad to see the Shrimp Fried Rice has not made a return to the menu because I loved it. Also, who is drinking Hot Cocoa with Chinese food? Please let me know.
Due to the limited menu, I ordered the Vegetable Stir Fry with Spicy Noodles. It is the only vegetarian option. Warning the portions here are large, at least for me. This menu item costs $12.50 and comes with a lot of noodles. You won’t find this quick service when looking at locations that do mobile ordering. It’s a small location, so they take your order at the cash registers. As for seating, there aren’t many options, so it might be hard to find seats on busy days. The seating areas are covered, but there is no air conditioning. It’s a great spot to hide from rain but not from the heat.
Okay, let’s focus on the food. The vegetables in the stir fry were a mix of carrots, green beans, and squash. The spicy noodles had a very subtle kick, something I would describe as Disney spicy. I was hoping for something spicier, but at least there was a slight kick. This dish was very filling, and I couldn’t finish it all; this is why I order from the kid’s menu most of the time. I have heard fantastic things about the Pot Stickers and Eggs Roll. I can’t review them because I don’t eat meat, but it seems that those are the best food items to order at this location.
Overall I gave my meal a seven out of ten. I love the area, and I hope they will bring back the Shrimp Fried Rice; that’s why I gave it that rating, but without those factors, I would give it a five out of ten. This is an excellent place to go if you are looking for something quick and significant portions that are sharable. If you love food court Chinese food, then you’ll love this place, especially if they bring back the full menu.
