It’s hard NOT to get excited about new rides in Disney World.
We’ve had a LOT to be excited about recently. Just over the past few years, we’ve been able to ride new attractions like Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure and Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind. Now, we’re getting pumped up about TRON Lightcycle Run in Magic Kingdom — even more so because Disney just released some brand new details about the ride!
According to Disney, when TRON Lightcycle Run is finished, guests will get to climb onto their own Lightcycles and “launch into the Grid for a race through a dark, computerized world.”
We’ve seen details like that before, but now we know the ride’s backstory! It picks up after the TRON: Legacy film. Sam Flynn, the main character from that film, has been opening up new gateways into the digital realm all over the world. The first was at Shanghai Disneyland (where the original TRON Lightcycle Power Run attraction is located). Now, he’s opening a gateway to the digital world in Tomorrowland in Magic Kingdom!
Disney also revealed some details about the ride’s queue, which will make guests feel as if they’re being digitized and entering the Grid for a Lightcycle race. All guests will join Team Blue to race against Team Orange. “As you swoop and swerve your way around the course,’ Disney wrote, “your goal is to be the first to race through eight Energy Gates and secure your victory. Will your team have what it takes?”
