In the era of social media, companies like Disney use all kinds of platforms to post news, share stories, and communicate with their audiences. However, the technology can also introduce new problems as well.
This morning, Disney experienced a major problem when the official Disneyland Instagram account was hacked, and the hacker created several offensive posts.
Very early this morning, on June 7th, the official Disneyland Instagram account (which has about 8.4 million followers) was hacked by someone who called themselves “David DO.” They claimed to be a “super hacker that is here to bring revenge on Disney land.”
Following the post where the hacker introduced themself and stated their intentions, they published several offensive and racist posts.
These posts remained up on Disneyland’s Instagram for nearly an hour and were finally deleted about 50 minutes after the first one went live. During that time, the hacker also posted Instagram stories. Now, the offensive posts have been removed and it appears that Disney is in control of the account once again.
We’ll continue to watch for more updates on this developing story. Stay tuned with DFB for the latest Disney news.
