4th of July offerings have hit Disney World, and there’s a ton to experience…and eat!
Guests can watch “Disney’s Celebrate America! – A Fourth of July Concert in the Sky” at Magic Kingdom, grab patriotic merchandise, or try a 4th of July-inspired treat. And, of course, we feel obligated to try out some of those treats — we are Disney FOOD Blog, after all. So head over to Disney’s Grand Floridian with us to try their new treats!
Gasparilla Island Grill at Disney’s Grand Floridian has a Red, White, and Blue Cookie Sandwich, which is inspired by the 4th of July! This treat has Vanilla-scented Buttercream sandwiched between two Gluten-Free Chocolate Chip Cookies. Let’s dig in!
So this reminds us of a cookie ice cream sandwich, but without the mess of a cookie ice cream sandwich (especially in the summer!). The gluten-free chocolate chip cookies, though, are crumbly and a little dry, but the vanilla buttercream does a good job of making up for that (it also keeps the whole thing from falling apart).
The chocolate and sprinkles add a nice crunch, but that chocolate will get all over your fingers as it melts. Overall, though, we love that it’s a sweet snack that isn’t TOO sweet, if you catch our drift! It’s also a good size for its price ($7.49).
Gasparilla Island Grill also has a S’mores Marshmallow Pop for $5.49! This pop is enrobed in Dark Chocolate with Graham Crumble! It comes wrapped up all nice and neat. Once we dug in, we LOVED IT. This is a S’mores treat you can eat without having to worry about roasting marshmallows and having it melt all over you as you try to bite into it. S’mores on a stick? We’re in!
The marshmallow itself was also fresh and fluffy. The graham crumble is a lot softer than we expected, which we liked — you still get a little hint of crunch, but just enough. You also get some crunch from the sprinkles.
Finally, the idea of putting dark chocolate in a S’mores snack was our favorite part. S’mores can be SO sweet, but the dark chocolate really adds a dimension of flavor that cuts through all that sugar. However, if you don’t like marshmallows, we’d tell you to stay away — that is the predominant flavor here.
So, if these treats sound good to you, head over to the Grand Floridian to give them a try! But hurry — the Red, White, and Blue Cookie Sandwich will only be offered through July 4th. The Marshmallow Pop, however, will be available through August 29th.
