For July, Salt & Straw in Disney Springs and Downtown Disney District is serving up “berries, berries, berries.” Five limited edition berry flavors are available as part of the Berries, Berries, Berries series and we reviewed them all. The same flavors are available on both coasts, but we reviewed them at Disney Springs.
Goat Cheese Marionberry Habanero
Tangy goat cheese ice cream swirled with a fruity, fiery, marionberry and habanero jam
We don’t know if it was just our scoop or the ice cream in general, but we didn’t taste any marionberry or habanero flavor.
It did taste like goat cheese ice cream. It was rich, creamy, and sweet.
That said, this isn’t an ice cream we would get again.
Birthday Cakes & Blackberries
Hunks of rainbow-sprinkled birthday crumble and blackberry jam swirl throughout a double-vanilla ice cream
The double-vanilla ice cream and blackberry jam make for a great combo.
The jam helps cut through the sweetness of the vanilla.
The cake crumbles are sweet and moist. They add a good texture to the scoop.
We would get this one again.
Wild-Foraged Berry Slab Pie
Wild berry pie filling and bits of double-baked pie crust flow throughout a salted vanilla ice cream
This is the best of the three so far. Every flavor fits perfectly together.
Just one scoop of this ice cream tastes like a wild berry pie a la mode.
The wild berry flavor is not overwhelming but adds a fruity flavor to the salted vanilla. The salted vanilla is perfection. It’s creamy and not overly sweet.
The pie crust adds some nice texture. We would definitely get this one again.
Basharam’s Yogurt Lassi w/ Raspberries
Delicate rosewater and cardamom ice cream coalesce with ripples of raspberry jam infused with toasted white cumin seeds. Made with Guest Chef Besharam’s Heena Patel.
This tastes just like Greek yogurt. It’s very creamy and very rich. We needed water after this one.
We wish there was more raspberry throughout.
You can taste the toasted cumin and that goes well with the ice cream.
Though the ice cream was described as rosewater and cardamom-flavored, we only tasted yogurt.
Boysenberry Oat Milk Sherbet (v)
Juicy boysenberries coupled with a touch of oat milk make for this eponymous sherbet of summer
This is the best one of Salt & Straw’s limited time July offerings.
You can taste the juicy boysenberry flavor and there are small bits of berry throughout.
The oat milk hits you hard on the back end. But it’s refreshing, especially on a hot Florida day.
It’s creamier than most sherbet. We would get this one again, hands down.
Which limited time berry flavor are you hoping to try at Salt & Straw this July? Let us know in the comments!
