Crispy Barbecue Pork Rinds with Pimento Cheese – $4.75
Our group was split on this; some liked it, and some thought it was terrible. Some of the pork rinds were a little over-fried and too hard to chew. The pimento was rich and cheesy with a peppery heat that was very present. However, there was also a sweetness that some of us thought ruined the dish. If you don’t mind the blending of sweet barbecue and savory pimento cheese, this might appeal to you.
Soy-Glazed Sticky Ribs – $7.00
with Green Onions and Peanuts
These had a very good barbecue flavor with tender meat. The ones we got were a bit gristly, but your mileage may vary. You only get two ribs, so the serving size wasn’t exceptional, but this was tied with the lettuce wrap below as the best dish of the bunch.
*NEW* Grilled Pork Shoulder Lettuce Wrap – $5.25
with Charred Corn Salsa, Pickled Red Onion, and Cilantro-Lime Crema
This dish is surprisingly light and delicious. It’s completely gluten free too! The pork shoulder is moist and cooked to tenderness. It could perhaps use more seasoning. Pickled onions add a little saltiness to the meat. The lettuce adds a fresh crunch and acts almost like a taco shell. The corn and creme are flavorful and bring the whole dish together. You can taste every flavor in each bite. Overall, this dish was delicious, and we would definitely get it again.
*NEW* Parish Brewing Co. SIPS Cabernet Franc Strawberry, Broussard, LA (4.5% ABV) – $5.00 for 6 oz., $9.00 for 12 oz.
Crescent Crown Distributing describes this beer: “Rich, dark wine grapes with bright fruit tones overlap with complex black currant, and a sweet sour base that brightens both. Intense and flavorful, this juicy sour has depth unlike any similar beer.”
Rombauer Zinfandel, California ($35/bottle) – $9.50
From Rombauer Vineyards: “Tangy sourness coupled with bright soft blueberry dialed up to an intensely satisfying fruit bomb. Still refreshing and sessionable, a light malt body keeps this beer from sitting heavily, while the gorgeous fruitiness comes through in aroma and flavor.”
Bourbon Bloody Mary with Seaside Grown Bloody Mary Mix ($10/bottle) and Labrot & Graham Woodford Reserve Bourbon Whiskey ($34/bottle) – $11.00
This is the only thing really worth getting here. This was an exceptional Bloody Mary with bourbon instead of vodka. It was perfectly spiced, and not too sweet. The bacon strip that it’s garnished with adds a good extra kick of salt and meatiness. We’d come back again for this.
