The global travel industry has seen its fair share of ups and downs over the last few years.
Have you traveled to Disney World recently?
Recently, staffing shortages and flight cancelations have plagued the airline business, and gas prices haven’t made traveling by car any easier. We’re still dealing with the global pandemic as well, with much of Europe and other destinations already being on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s “high” risk category. And now, three more locations have been added to that list.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) added more travel destinations to the “high” risk Level 3 Category, according to WESH News. The latest locations to receive the designation are Romania, Moldova, and St. Pierre and Miquelon — a French archipelago off the coast of Newfoundland, Canada.

This makes nearly 125 destinations in the “high” risk category as of August 1st — the highest risk category the CDC has for monitoring COVID-19 for travelers. The designation “applies to places that have had more than 100 cases per 100,000 residents in the past 28 days.”

These destinations join other popular travel spots in Europe and beyond. Take a look at some of the other locations in the Level 3 Category as of August 1st:

- Greece
- Ireland
- Italy
- The Netherlands
- Norway
- Portugal
- Spain
- United Kingdom
- Brazil
- Canada
- Costa Rica
- Malaysia
- Mexico
- South Korea
- Thailand
- Turkey
The CDC recommends travelers be up to date with all COVID-19 vaccines — this means you’ve received the entire primary series and any boosters available to you.
Health and Safety Reminders
In addition to new destinations in the Level 3 Category, the CDC has also updated the Level 2: Moderate Category to include Indonesia and Nepal. No recent changes have been made to the Level 1 Category.
