Earlier today we reported that an ad-supported tier of Disney+ is launching in December. Disney CEO Bob Chapek stated today that kids profiles and pre-school content will not have ads, “at least at launch”.
Of course, this leaves the door open for ads to be served on kids content at some point in the future. Other kids-focused content delivery like YouTube Kids do serve limited ads, and ads have been part of kids TV networks and programming blocks for decades so it’s not exactly unprecedented.
The ad-supported service will be available for $7.99 per month. The ad-free service will still be offered for $10.99 per month, or $109 annually.
Additionally, ad-supported Disney+ and Hulu will be bundled together for $9.99 per month, while the full Disney bundle, which includes ad-supported ESPN+, will be available for $12.99 per month.
