There have been some big announcements during the Walt Disney Company’s Q3 earnings call.
So far, we’ve learned that Disney Parks revenue has increased by $4.3 billion, Disney+ subscribers have risen, and the new ad-supported Disney+ subscription tier is launching this December. Details about Disney Genie+ have also been shared, and we have an update that may surprise you!
Have you ever wondered how many people are actually purchasing Genie+ in Disney World and Disneyland? During the Q1 earnings call, Disney reported that over a third of domestic guests purchased Genie+ and/or Individual Lightning Lanes in the first quarter of the year.
During the Q3 earnings call, Walt Disney Company CEO Bob Chapek reported that almost 50% of guests entering Disney Parks purchased Genie+ in the third quarter. Chapek said, “Even our Genie product, which we released short of a year ago, now about 50% of the people who come through the gate, buy up to that Genie product…which you can see in results of our yields.”
The Walt Disney Company previously reported that over 50% of guests purchased Genie+ products during the holiday season in 2021, and now as of the third quarter, it appears to be a trend.
In Disney World, Genie+ costs $15 per person, per day, while it costs $20 per person, per day in Disneyland. A Genie+ purchase gets you access to the faster Lightning Lanes (as opposed to standby lanes) for select rides, while the most popular and in-demand ride Lightning Lanes can be purchased in a separate transaction via Individual Lightning Lanes, and prices vary depending on the date.
