Cruises are a great opportunity to capture amazing pictures, whether you want a totally aesthetic Instagram feed or prefer to go old school with a photo album.
Poolside photos and family portraits at dinner are great ways to remember your vacation, and if you are taking a destination cruise you will probably be snapping a lot of pics at your different ports of call!
No matter whether you prefer to dress down or go full glam, we have included a variety of items to include on your next packing list!
Exploring the ship
Sweatpants and hoodies? No way! You can still be comfortable and look stylish as you get familiar with your new home for the next few days.
There’s hardly anything easier to throw on than a dress. This Universal Thread a-line dress comes in a fun floral print that is the perfect combo of cute AND comfy. Plus, it has POCKETS! We also love this flutter sleeve dress in this bright red shade, which would look great with a tan. Just pair your dress with some sandals (these totally are Tory Burch dupes!) or a pair of low wedges and your favorite pair of sunnies and you are ready to go!
For separates, try a more classic look with a short-sleeve button down and a pair of shorts (these Amazon Essentials shorts have almost 30,000 reviews!!). Don’t be afraid to try patterns too, like these shirts with a huge selection of fun options. Any sort of flowy pants are also a good piece to keep on hand to just throw on whenever you are heading out from your room. We like these ones from Target that feature a neutral beachy print.
By the pool
Who said the pool deck is only for swimming? Have some fun in the sun and look good while doing it!
Coverups are the best way to show off your style while lounging and sipping on a drink. This loose coverup comes in TONS of colors, so you can easily match it to your bathing suit. A flowy kimono style also doubles as a fun outfit accessory or can be used on cooler nights to layer.
A wide brimmed hat is practically a must-have when you’re on vacation! We like this classic style from Target that comes in the traditional natural straw tone, or you can opt for something a little different with the black or pink versions! If you’re more prone to losing your hats or are worried about the breeze while on deck, try this version with a chin strap. Those looking to be a little more on trend can opt for a bucket hat (yes millennials, these are back in now!). Again, we can’t get over how many print options there are for these Mashiaoyi bucket hats!
At dinner
Take it back a few decades and try dressing up for dinner! Now you can get some good pictures of something besides your fancy meal.
This faux wrap dress by Ahlaray comes in a variety of colors and is slightly formal without being too stuffy. The fabric is light and airy so you won’t be weighed down if you’re cruising in hotter temperatures. For those who want to enjoy the wide variety of food offered on the ship but don’t want to feel restricted in your clothing (or maybe need to hide your food baby …) try wearing a swing or a-line dress, like this midi-dress with puff sleeves.
For separates, compromise between looking nice and being comfortable with flowy or stretchier fabrics, like with these trousers or these pants. Pair with a nice top or blouse and some accessories, like a watch or some statement earrings. If the place you’re dining at is a little more casual, you can probably get away with a pair of nicer shorts and polo shirt.
For shoes, don’t feel beholden to typical formal wear rules! Switch it up with some bejeweled sandals or dress up your sneaker game by going for a more low-key, faux leather look.
For casino night
Feel like you’ve hit the jackpot with these snazzy options. Who knows, maybe the key to a winning streak is a great outfit!
Now is the time to go for the loud outfits. Sequins, beads, glitter, and ALL the fun accessories! Throw on pieces in bright colors or big prints, and don’t be afraid to mix and match (it’s called POWER CLASHING!). This floral mini skirt is super retro and fun and would look great with a white polo and big, bright hoops.
If there is ever a time to wear this fully sequined rainbow shirt, it would be at the casino. Verdusa makes a great sequin slip dress that comes in several color combos.
Not everyone is outgoing and loves to be the center of attention- if you wanna keep it low key but still sport a bit of glitz, it’s time to accessorize! Glitter shoes that are also comfortable can elevate your look without looking like a walking disco ball. Statement rings will catch the light while playing cards, or go for a classic poker look with a casino-style dealer visor.
Exploring a port of call
Ditch the typical tourist look and opt for a casually-cool outfit that will look great in pics. Just dropping by the Parthenon, NBD.
If you are the type of person who wants to hit all the landmarks, we recommend sticking to pieces that are made for more active wear. These hiking shorts and cargo shorts from Columbia Sportswear are made to stretch with you so you’re comfortable even when closing all the rings on your Apple Watch! These cotton and linen pants are also stylish and relaxed, and feature pockets as well. Stick with light and airy tops and comfortable walking shoes or sneakers, and you’re ready for a day of sightseeing!
