We’ve been making our way around Disney World checking out all the delicious NEW treats we can find.
It’s Hispanic and Latin American Heritage Month, and Disney is celebrating the best way it knows how — with FOOD! We’ve already tried a few snacks here and there, but we’re just getting started. Come with us to try a new dish being served over in EPCOT that we just couldn’t wait to check out!
Greetings from EPCOT, where we’re stopping by Sunshine Seasons in the Land Pavilion to see what they’re serving up for Hispanic and Latin American Heritage Month! From September 15th through October 15th, you can get Chef Verónica’s Birria Tacos — birria tacos with beef, Monterey Jack, onions, cilantro, and lime served with consommé. Yes, please!
We loved that these birria tacos were served the traditional way, with the fresh onions and cilantro, plus that juicy consommé. The beef was moist and pulled apart easily — we didn’t find ourselves having to use too much effort to take a bite. The cheese also added a nice moisture, but we still couldn’t help ourselves from dipping our taco before every bite.
Somehow, though, despite the tender beef and everything else going on, the tacos lacked real flavor. When we squeezed the lime and added the onions and cilantro, they overpowered the rest of the taco and we couldn’t really taste the meat.
The consommé was great when it came to adding a little extra moisture to the tacos, but to u,s it kind of just tasted like beef broth and wasn’t bursting with spices like you might typically find with birria tacos.
This was a filling meal for $9.99, though, it just wasn’t full of flavor. If you’re looking for a meat and cheese dish that’s a little different than your average sandwich or burger, you might like these tacos. But, if you’ve had authentic birria tacos or love a lot of flavor in your food, we’d probably skip these.
