Hurricane Ian Prompts CHANGE in Dining Cancelation Policy for Disney World

Hurricane Ian has gone from a tropical depression to a hurricane in just a few days and Disney World and other Florida areas could be impacted.

A rainy day at Hollywood Studios

A tropical storm watch and flood advisory have already been issued for Disney World counties, and Disney has been taking some steps to prepare for bad weather. But now we’ve got another update on just how the hurricane is impacting Disney.

Disney has issued a notice regarding adjusted rules due to Hurricane Ian. When it comes to dining specifically, Disney has indicated that effective immediately they will not be enforcing cancelation policies until further notice for dining.

This will also apply to other special experiences, like Savi’s Workshop or the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique.

Reservation Rules Are Changing Temporarily

Typically, there are certain cancelation policies in place for dining and special reservations, like these. Restaurants in Disney World typically charge a per-person cancelation fee for reservations canceled within a specified period. Usually, reservations must be canceled at least one day in advance to avoid the fee.

But, due to the storm, cancelation policies are not being enforced until further notice.

Watch Those Dining Reservations

If you’re heading to Disney World soon, keep this change in mind as bad weather could stop or alter some of your dining plans.

As of 5PM on Monday, Hurricane Ian was located off the western tip of Cuba. Hurricane-force winds are expected in the hurricane warning area in west-central Florida starting Wednesday morning, and tropical storm conditions are expected by late Tuesday.

Heavy rainfall is expected to impact central Florida Wednesday and Thursday, and there is a likelihood of prolonged river flooding across central Florida.
