This morning, part of a popular store collapses causing chaos at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Check out details here. Rope Drop When planning a Disney trip, it often seems like guests need to learn a new language! Disney parks lingo is extensive and sometimes confusing. Terminology like “lightning lane”, “quick service”, and “park hopper” flies off the tongue of Disney […]
This morning, something caused a good-sized chunk of wall around a doorway to collapse at Keystone Clothiers, a popular store on Hollywood Boulevard near the entrance of Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Entry to the park was a bit backed up even 30 minutes after park open, we suspect due to this incident. A large portion of Hollywood Boulevard is now closed off, meaning guests have to walk around this area to proceed to other sections of the park.
This side portion of the Keystone Clothiers facade (which replicates the historic Max Factor building in Los Angeles) appears to have crumbled right off of its support structure and onto the ground. An entire light fixture from the side of the entrance came down with it.
Managers, security, maintenance staff, and more surround the crumbled facade, as they try to figure out a repair plan in the middle of a theme park operating day.
Cast Members we spoke to speculated at that an electric wheelchair struck the facade and then the large portion fell down, but that is unconfirmed at this time.
Keystone Clothiers, which currently sells Marvel and Star Wars goods, is closed for the time being. Luckily, Disney World sells the same merchandise in many stores, so there isn’t much to miss out on.

As of September 26th, what was tropical storm Ian has officially become Hurricane Ian. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) posted their 5AM update. As of that update, they noted that “considerable flooding impacts are possible later this week in west central Florida.” They also shared that additional flash or urban flooding, and flooding on rivers, across the Florida peninsula, could not be ruled out for later in the week.
Ian is expected to be a major hurricane in the Gulf of Mexico and, regardless of its exact track, there is a risk for “life-threatening storm surge, hurricane-force winds, and heavy rainfall along the west coast of Florida and the Florida panhandle by the middle of this week.”
Eric Burris of WESH 2 News also shared an image predicting when tropical storm force winds could start in the outer bands. For Orlando, it appears that tropical storm winds could arrive Wednesday evening.
Thus far, Lake County (a county in central Florida) has announced that there will be no school on Wednesday and Thursday due to the expected impacts of the storm. There has been no update from other counties as of yet, according to WESH 2 News.
When do tropical storm force winds start in the outer bands?
Of course, things are subject to change. There is still quite a bit of uncertainty with this storm and what its exact path will be. Hurricane Ian is now over the highest area of “tropical cyclone heat potential” in the Atlantic basin and thus is expected to intensify rapidly.
Why is Hurricane Ian intensifying so quickly? It’s now over the highest area of ‘tropical cyclone heat potential’ in the entire Atlantic basin.
That means that not only will it continue firing up… but it should continue rapidly intensifying… pic.twitter.com/4LUbFpdlW8
For now, it’s important to prepare for the potential impact and make sure you’re ready to make adjustments if the storm does affect your trip. Do you have raincoats and rain shoes packed? Do you have a few cardgames or other activities to fill your time if you end up stuck at your hotel for a bit?
Thus far, Disney has not announced any closures in advance of the storm. However, more updates could be made within the next few days.
Ian is expected to strengthen today, and the main impacts are expected to be felt Wednesday through Thursday in the Central Florida area.
Weather today is NORMAL- but we do need to be getting our homes secured for a storm.

Welcome foolish mortals to Magic Kingdom! Today we plan on doing some shopping and rides. As always we will report on all the new things we find. Let’s get started.
In the Emporium, we spotted a new reusable Halloween tote bag available. This would be the perfect bag to carry all of your Halloween candy at Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party.
New Hades merchandise has arrived in the Emporium. There is a Hades hoodie, t-shirt and sweatpants now available. The hoodie features Hades, and the wording “Hot head.”
The t-shirt features our favorite villain from the underworld and the wording, “Feel the heat.”
The sweatpants match the same design as the Hades hoodie.
We spotted a new Daisy sweater available in the Emporium. This sweater is purple and features Daisy Duck and white and pink flowers.
A new Goofy “Art of Skiing,” reversible bucket hat in celebration of Goofy’s 90th anniversary was also available in the Emporium.
Two new holiday ornaments were available in Crystal Arts by Arribas Brothers. The first ornament is gold and features the 50th anniversary castle and the wording, “The World’s Most Magical Celebration.” The second ornament is red and features Cinderella Castle in Walt Disney World.
We spotted two new Crislu necklaces in Uptown Jewelers. There is a Jasmine pavé necklace and The Princess and the Frog ”Love” necklace.
Also in Uptown Jewelers, Pandora Jewelry is offering a complimentary Disney x Pandora Villains poster with any qualifying pandora jewelry merchandise purchase of $175 to more.
The line wasn’t long for The Haunted Mansion so we decided to hitch a ride on a doom buggy.
After riding The Haunted Mansion, we stopped into Memento Mori and spotted two new spooky light-up graveyard ghost statues. The “Singing Busts” piece features all 5 singing men, and they light-up and play the Haunted Mansion classic, “Grim Grinning Ghosts.”
Can you believe it has been seven whole days since we last went shopping together? I have so many fun things to share with you that I have literally been up all night waiting for you to get here! Okay, fine, it was your night and my daytime; but it’s still true.

The Mighty Ducks (formerly known as The Don’t Bothers) are back and, by way of technicality, have made it to EPIC.
