This Week in Disney – Sept 19th

Hello everyone! We made it to Friday, and it’s time to get ready for the weekend. What a week it has been. We had some great articles on here this past week and a good amount of Disney news. Let’s dive in!

Monday Disney Headlines – Merch, Hyperspace Lounge, Magical Experiences, and a New Restaurant

Monday, we, of course, met up with Zoë for our weekly merchandise meeting, and we looked at the first round of Christmas PJs and a cool Loungefly bag. We also learned reservations for the Hyperspace Lounge on the Disney Wish are no longer required. Next up, we looked at one of the most magical experiences at Magic Kingdom, getting pixie-dusted. Then we got news on a new restaurant coming to Walt Disney World, Rosa Mexicano Restaurant, which will be at the Swan and Dolphin. We also looked at Disney+ and how there will be a price increase and ADs. Then we looked at a moment where a reporter accidentally called Bob Chapek “Bob Paycheck” on TV. A small amount of information was released regarding the DeSantis vs. Disney situation and how we may be getting answers soon. We ended our Monday by looking at release dates & changes for new Disney & Pixar films.

Tuesday Disney Headlines – Cast Member Mask Requirements, Covid-19 Banner Gone, Galaxy’s Edge Experiences and MagicBand+

Tuesday was a busy day filled with news! First, we met with Contributor Beth to compare and contrast the Droid experience and the Lightsaber experience at Galaxy’s Edge. Then we learned that there is no more face mask requirement for Disney Cruise Line crew members. We then noticed that the COVID-19 banner on the Walt Disney World website had been taken down. Next up, we talked about a tasty treat that debuted at Disney Springs for Hispanic and Latin American Heritage Month, which is delicious. Then Disney gave us an update on MagicBand+ coming to Disneyland and the new Eudora’s Chic Boutique at Disneyland Resort. We also discussed the first night to sell out for Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party on this day.

Wednesday Disney Headlines – Aulani Review, Resort Tour, Magical EPCOT Construction, and Attraction Closed for Refurbishment

Finally, the middle of the week! Wednesday was a busy day on the site so let’s dig in. First, we met with Zoë for an in-depth review of Disney’s Aulani Resort. Then we took a tour, a photo tour, around Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort. After seeing that beautiful resort, we got to business and discussed the costume guidelines for Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. Next, we looked at the Dos and Don’ts of packing for a Disney Cruise. Then we ventured to EPCOT to check on the construction of the Moana-Inspired attraction that is coming soon. We also saw that the American Adventure is closed for refurbishment until further notice. After that, we stepped foot on the Disney Wonder and looked at a dinner review of Palo.

Thursday Disney Headlines – New Loungeflys, EPCOT 40TH Anniversary, Festival of Fantasy Time Change, and Staffing Issue at Walt Disney World

One step closer to Friday, and there’s a lot to cover. First up, we met with Contributor Elizabeth and read her light-hearted love letter to Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter which was pretty funny. Then we explored the new Loungeflys that are coming out; some of them are very spooky. Then we took a sneak peek at EPCOT 40th Anniversary merchandise. Next, we took a photo tour of the Mexico Pavilion at EPCOT. Are there any Mexico Pavilion fans out there? Then we got the news that the Festival of Fantasy Parade at Magic will go back to one show a day this fall. Next, we explored all you can do at Walt Disney World without a theme park ticket. Then we discussed the current staffing issues at the parks and why it’s happening.

Friday Disney Headlines – Safari at Animal Kingdom, EPCOT 40TH Anniversary Merch, Hurricane Coming to WDW and NEW Foodie Guide

WOO! It’s Friday. Today we started the day with Contributor Spencer and we explored an area of Kilimanjaro Safari called the Safi River. Then we dived into Disney Cruise Line and talked about crusing in the fall and what to expect. We got a closer look at all the merchadise that will be released for EPCOT’s 40th Anniversary. Then we took a look at the upcoming refurbs for Copper Creek and Disney’s Contemporary Resort. For me this next one was the best part of today, we got the Foodie Guide of all the treats coming to EPCOT for its 40th Anniversary. Our last story is deinitely not my favorite. A tropical depression is making it wasy toward Walt Disney World and by the time it gets here it could possibly be a hurricane.

We hope you all had a great week and that you have a fantastic weekend. This coming week is super exciting because DIS Con! DIS Con is happening next weekend September 30th and October 1st. Make sure you buy your tickets here. We hope to see you there!

New Day of the Dead ‘Coco’ Ear Headband at Walt Disney World

While most Americans are focused on Halloween, Día de Muertos (Day of the Dead) is also approaching. To celebrate, Walt Disney World has a new “Coco” ear headband available.

“Coco” Ear Headband – $29.99

The ears atop the headband resemble marigolds, the flower of Día de Muertos.

The embroidered marigolds are orange with purple highlights and black borders. The bright colors and strong scent of marigolds are said to guide the spirits of the dead to the land of the living during Día de Muertos.

A pink knit bow with a decorated sugar skull center sits between the ears. Sugar skulls represent loved ones who have passed away and inspired the designs of deceased characters in “Coco.”

One of the most popular and longest-running Halloween theme park haunt events returned to Knott’s Berry Farm in Buena Park, California last night as Knott’s Scary Farm 2022 launched with plenty of delightfully spooky offerings for this year. These Halloween Costumes Will Take ZERO Effort

DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission.

Sometimes Halloween really sneaks up on us! You might have a party coming up and no time to plan a costume, or maybe you’re a parent who wants to throw together a look while taking your kids out trick-or-treating.

Halloween is upon us!

There’s no need to stay up late crafting the perfect look or shelling out tons of cash for a decent costume. These Halloween tees from Jane are probably the easiest costumes we’ve ever seen!

These tees are only $19.99 and are the perfect throw-on-and-go Halloween costume!

Halloween Shirt Costume Tees

These shirts are fun because you can design your own! Just pick what design you want on the front and then choose from over 30 different colors. You can be Pac-Man, one of the ghosts, an M&M, or a crayon. So many combinations!

Any of these tops would be fine as a single costume and easily recognizable. They’d also make great group costumes! Whether you’re a couple, a group of friends, or dressing up for an event with an organization, ordering a bunch of one of the styles is a super easy way to coordinate with everyone, plus there’s no limit to how many people to include!

Halloween Shirt Costume Tees

You really can pair these shirts with whatever bottoms you’d like — jeans, a skirt, whatever you’re comfortable in. For the crayons, we think they would really look great if you wore your shirt with matching bottoms to really make it a complete look! Otherwise, you can never go wrong with black leggings.

If you’re going trick-or-treating and your area gets cold in October, you could easily layer your shirt over a long-sleeved shirt or thin jacket to stay warm. You might want to order a size up to accommodate the layering.

Halloween Shirt Costume Tees

Now we’re ready to celebrate Halloween in comfort. Just make sure you order soon, because they have a limited stock and once they’re sold out, they’re gone!

If you have a Disney trip planned this Halloween season, read up on all the happenings!

We start with news about EPCOT’s upcoming 40th Anniversary, which will be celebrated on October 1st! On October 1st, D23 Gold Members will have the chance to celebrate with a special event that includes a continental breakfast, priority entrance to Living with the Land, and more. Registration for that event opened up recently and has already sold out.

But don’t fret, all guests will get the chance to celebrate EPCOT’s anniversary with special merchandise! Disney shared a sneak peek at the EPCOT 40th merchandise earlier this week, and then revealed a full look at the collection!

The collection will include shirts, a spirit jersey, a baseball tee, a Corkcicle water bottle, new Minnie ears, a Loungefly backpack, and MORE.

Some items will be released on shopDisney, but you’ll also find them in EPCOT on October 1st. Plus, those who visit EPCOT on its anniversary will get the chance to pick up some limited-edition 40th Anniversary day-of collection items.

We’re still on the lookout for more news about this anniversary, so stay tuned!

2 — Character Dining Updates

Next, we turn to some exciting character dining updates! Over in Magic Kingdom, The Crystal Palace has officially welcomed back Winnie the Pooh and his friends for character meals during lunch and dinner!

Hi Pooh!

You can once again hug Pooh, share a laugh with Tigger, and say “hello” to other friends from the Hundred Acre Wood here!

Reservations are now open, so grab your table quickly!

3 — New Restaurant Coming to Disney World

Keeping in the theme of food news, we have an exciting update for those who love to try new restaurants. A brand NEW restaurant is on its way to the Walt Disney World Dolphin Hotel.

The restaurant is called Rosa Mexicano. This will be Rosa Mexicano’s first Orlando-area location and it is set to open in 2023.

This new restaurant will replace the current Fresh Mediterranean Market and will offer an “elevated fiesta dining experience” with signature dishes and award-winning margaritas.

The restaurant is meant to serve up a contemporary interpretation of authentic Mexican cuisine and will feature dishes that pay tribute to Mexico’s varied culinary regions, over 100 varieties of tequila and agave-based spirits, and a signature frozen pomegranate margarita (which was named the best in New York City!).

If you want to get a taste of this new spot, you can stop by the Swan and Dolphin Food & Wine Classic event, where Rosa Mexicano will have a tasting station.

See more details about the NEW restaurant here!

4 — Terminal C Is Now OPEN at the Orlando International Airport

From food, we move to the airport with an important update! Orlando International Airport’s brand new Terminal C is now OPEN!

Inside Terminal C

The new terminal features an upgraded security process, NEW restaurants (including spots from the folks behind Homecomin’, The Polite Pig, and Wine Bar George), a new luggage system, art displays, and more.

Coffee Time

Even before you get to security, you’ll find lots of open and airy spaces, art displays, and other details to look at.

Here’s a Closer Look at an Art Display

Within the new terminal, you’ll also get to enjoy a NEW Disney store! It has a giant castle, some gorgeous light fixtures, and Disney merchandise (of course), so you can get that last taste of magic before you leave or a first taste of the magic as soon as you step off that plane.

Only a limited number of airlines will fly into and out of Terminal C. JetBlue will soon arrive at Terminal C.

5 — Nighttime Shows and Parade Updates

And finally, in terms of big updates, some entertainment changes are coming to Disney World. At Disney’s Animal Kingdom, some nighttime shows will be returning soon! Both the Tree of Like Awakenings and the Beacon of Magic offerings are set to return in the evening starting October 1st.

50th Anniversary Tree of Life

Select dates after that may not have showings of these nighttime experiences though, depending on park hours, so check the My Disney Experience app for showtime updates.

Click here for updates on these shows

Over at Magic Kingdom, some things are changing too. Starting October 9th, the Mickey’s Celebration Cavalcade will get an extra showtime (this is the cavalcade that features Mickey and friends in their 50th Anniversary outfits). Due to that change, the Festival of Fantasy parade will drop to just 1 showtime starting October 9th.

Don’t miss the Festival of Fantasy Parade

Keep in mind that showtimes for the Disney Adventure Friends Cavalcade can change quite a bit due to Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party being offered in the park. On nights when the Halloween Party is offered, there are fewer showtimes available for this cavalcade.

And that’s it for this week’s biggest news. Of course, other news was also shared this week. Check the links below for those stories:
