Head over to Smokejumpers Grill in Disney California Adventure this Halloween season for a new Green Chile Double Burger and Mint Shake.
Green Chile Double Burger – $15.49
Two Angus Beef Patties, Roasted Green Chile Salsa and Purple Cabbage Slaw, served with Poblano Cheese Dipping Sauce and choice of Crinkle Cut Fries or Onion Rings
This might be one of the best things we’ve had in the entire Halloween 2022 food release, and very likely one of the best things we’ve had from Smokejumpers, ever.
The burger patties themselves are nothing of note, just the same frozen beef patty seen in quick service restaurants across the resort. But the tangy green chile salsa provides a welcome pop of vinegar and a kick of flavor that makes this burger great on its own.
And if it stopped there, we would be satisfied but not blown away. It’s only once you dip the burger into the accompanying poblano cheese sauce that things get “out of control” delicious.
This sauce would be good on anything, but pairing it with an already delicious green chile burger makes it spectacular.
It may be a processed cheese sauce but the addition of the poblano peppers takes the edge off of what a traditional nacho cheese sauce would be and gives it a more well-rounded, complex flavor profile that keeps us coming back dip after dip.
We will definitely be revisiting this burger very soon.
Mint Shake – $8.99
Mint Shake topped with Whipped Cream, Chocolate Cookie Crumbles, Gummy Body Parts and a Chocolate-covered Snack Cake
Where the Green Chile Double Burger blew our minds, the Mint Shake left us cold, and not in an ice cream way.
If you’ve ever wondered why we often see mint chocolate chip as an ice cream flavor and not just mint, this shake is your answer. Without much else to distract you from the mint flavor, it just tastes like a toothpaste shake.
It’s not minty enough to be peppermint like a candy cane, it’s just barely too sweet, it’s a singular, monotonous flavor, and it’s just unpleasant. The gummies on top don’t bring much flavor to the shake as they don’t really mix in or dissolve and are eaten on their own.
The snack cake that tops the cup also doesn’t bring anything to the actual shake itself but it’s nice to enjoy a snack cake if you aren’t going to enjoy your shake.
The Oogie Boogie tumbler, candy glow cube, and Lock, Shock, and Barrel straw clip are also available at Smokejumpers Grill.
