Experience more personal, up-close interactions with Michael Myers, Kharis the Mummy, and more with the Scareactor Dining Experience during Halloween Horror Nights 2022. This add-on is $54.99 per person and includes food and scareactor photo opportunities at Louie’s Italian Restaurant in Universal Studios Florida. Scareactor dining has not been offered since 2019, so we were looking forward to its return in this new location. What can you expect from the Scareactor Dining Experience? Let’s find out!
We arrived to Universal Studios Florida on a dark and stormy night, if you can’t tell by the umbrellas and ponchos, and made our way to Louie’s. Louie’s Italian Restaurant is located in the New York Stay and Scream area, so you’ll want to make sure you’re in the park before it closes at 5 PM to scan your Halloween Horror Nights ticket at the Stay and Scream entrance. Once inside the area, you can get in line to check in for your dining experience. You’ll be given two tickets at the outdoor check in podium. One will get you into Louie’s Italian Restaurant and the other is for two complimentary photos.
Some decorations have been added around the restaurant to help put guests into the spirit. This dining experience used to be offered at Monsters Cafe, so Louie’s is a big change.
Once you enter Louie’s, a Team Member will greet you and escort you up to one of the food lines.
Dinner is a buffet served cafeteria-style, with guests lining up and selecting the foods they want. A Team Member is happy to load up your plate with as much as you care to enjoy.
Food & Drinks
Salads, pizza, mac and cheese, chicken and sirloin are among some of the offerings on the menu. There’s also a dessert bar set up by the gelato case.
A fountain drink is included, but guests can also purchase Ghoul Juice.
The mushroom truffle pizza was delicious!
Don’t fear the Nashville chicken, it’s not very spicy. It’s nothing like the Nashville mac and cheese or the Wanna Play Beignet. It’s much more mild than those. The macaroni and cheese is separate, which is nice for those who don’t want the chicken with their mac.
Fruit cups, veggies and hummus, bowtie pasta salad, autumn salad, and Caesar salad are also available.
The rosemary focaccia bread is fantastic.
The plant-based dish was one of the best. It was spicy and packed with flavor.
The meatball sliders were the perfect size and so delicious!
Black linguini with shrimp is an interesting choice.
There’s even carved sirloin. There is a nice variety of food to try and you can have as much as you’d like.
Time to enjoy some food and get some photos with the scareactors!
Once you have your tray of food, a Team Member will escort your group to a table. If you’re a solo diner, they do let you know you will be part of their “scare squad” (not “scream squad”, oddly) and will be seated with other solo diners. I was sat at a table but nobody else was ever sat with me. They did warn you to never go alone, so just don’t be surprised if you’re sat with another solo party. Honestly, this might be a great way to make a new friend for the night!
Don’t forget dessert! There’s a gelato bar as well as macarons, tarts, and cake pops. Each of these options are awesome and a great way to finish off the meal.
Several scareactors are roaming the area and interacting with guests, so don’t let your guard down!
Scareactors
Spirits of the Coven Witch
The scareactors come directly from the event, so there’s a flapper witch from Spirits of the Coven walking around the area and going from table to table. Because you cannot take photos inside the houses, this is a good time to get photos with the scareactors!
The interactions between these scareactors and the guests are fantastic. The atmosphere is very laid back and relaxed, allowing the scareactors to spend quality time with each table. Watching the witch playing around with this small child was amazing.
Sweet Revenge Child
The Sweet Revenge scare zone is located right outside of Louie’s Italian Restaurant, and it looks like one of the kids has come into the building to terrorize the guests! The creepy, quiet child made quite an impression on everyone.
Chupacabra Maskmaker
The maskmaker from Fiesta de Chupacabras was my personal favorite interaction of the night. She spent a lot of time talking to me about the fiesta and inviting me to come see her. Knowing the story of the Fiesta de Chupacabras house, this interaction with the maskmaker helped bring the story to another level.
Michael Myers
Michael Myers is lurking at a photo op by the Freestyle machines. There are photographers here ready to take your photo with their camera and yours. A photo with Michael Myers is included in the experience.
Kharis the Mummy
Kharis the mummy from Universal Monsters: Legends Collide has a photo op set up off to the side of the buffet. It’s absolutely beautiful! There is also a photographer here to take your photo. This is another photo that is included in your experience.
The Scareactor Dining Experience is a unique way to get up close with some of the characters from this year’s event. This is the only way to get your photo taken with these characters, so if you’re a fan of Halloween Horror Nights, this is a great way to start the night. We enjoyed the food, but meeting the scareactors was the highlight for us. The experience isn’t scary, so it’s good fun for the entire group, even the chickens. If you’re looking to make your Halloween Horror Nights more memorable, we highly suggest you book the Scareactor Dining Experience.
