Spirits of the Coven is an original house at Halloween Horror Nights 31.
The official description reads, “A coven of beautiful flapper witches will lure you into their 1920s speakeasy, reveal their haggish true form and turn your scream squad into a witch’s brew. They’ll be cackling; you’ll be screaming.”
Spirits of the Coven
This house is gorgeous. The set design is fantastic (a reoccurring theme this year) and the transitions as seamless. You travel through the story from 1920s flapper witches to hard-working hags, with the pacing giving time for the tale to marinate with guests, ensuring even the least informed understand the narrative.
The rooms transition from meat plant to hat shop, hat shop to a speakeasy, and beyond as we descend deeper into the lair.
Clues are all around if you were looking. Drinks in the speakeasy had eyeballs in them. A small table in the gambling room had a bundle of sage and crystals. The motifs continue to grow and grow more obvious as we journeyed farther down.
We loved this house. They leaned hard into the specific time period and the motif. It is one of the longer houses at the event, so you will get more bang for your wait time buck with this one.
Location of Spirits of the Coven
The entrance for Spirits of the Coven is at the Universal Music Plaza.
