The ONE Thing Keeping Disney’s New Corn Dog from Greatness

When it comes to classic Disneyland snacks we just can’t resist, corn dogs definitely earn a spot on our list!

Corn Dogs!

It’s officially Hispanic and Latin American Heritage Month, and in honor of the occasion, Disney released over 50 NEW treats at both Disney World and Disneyland. We’ve been working our way through those delicious eats, and our latest adventure takes us to a menu item that combines two of our favorite foods.

Downtown Disney at Disneyland Resort is home to Blue Ribbon Corn Dogs, a small food stand that packs a big punch! In addition to serving Disneyland’s Original Hand-dipped Corn Dogs, the stand also sometimes offers limited-time menu items. From now through October 16th, Blue Ribbon Corn Dogs is offering the Mexican Street Corn Dog in celebration of Hispanic and Latin American Heritage Month!

The festive snack is a spicy hot link dipped in batter and fried, then topped with garlic mayo, corn, cotija cheese, and cilantro, and garnished with a lime wedge. We LOVE both corn dogs and street corn, so we had to stop by and grab one for ourselves to see if it tastes as good as it sounds.

Mexican Street Corn Dog

We had high hopes for this corn dog, but overall, we’d say it was just okay. Our biggest problem with the corn dog was that the oil it was cooked in didn’t seem to be quite hot enough, so the batter on ours was pretty soggy and oily. But the dog itself was really good! It had a noticeably spicy kick and the skin had a nice snap to it.

The garlic mayo wasn’t very garlicky, so heads up if that’s the flavor you’re most looking forward to. But the cotija cheese on top was great, and definitely one of the stand-out ingredients for us! Overall, there were some really good elements of the corn dog (shout out to the spicy hot link and cotija cheese!), but the soggy, super-oily batter knocked it down a lot for us.

Here’s A Closer Look at the Toppings!

At $15, it was a bit pricy for us considering we weren’t blown away, but if these flavor combos are right up your alley, it may be worth giving it a shot. The Mexican Street Corn Dog is available at Blue Ribbon Corn Dogs now through October 16th, if you’d like to swing by and give it a try!
