As much as I adore Disney World, the heat, especially the sticky summer humidity that makes you want to drench yourself in AC, can quickly sour an afternoon at the parks. When I’m on a Disney vacation, I find myself chugging upwards of three water bottles a day just for a few minutes of cool relief. There are times, however, when water alone is not enough to satisfy a vengeful thirst. Lucky for us, Disney World is rich with delicious, non-alcoholic drinks for those who cannot or do not wish to indulge in an alcoholic beverage. These are a few of my favorites.
Strawberry Lemonade
Hollywood Studios often boasts the highest wait times, meaning endless sweltering loops around the park, so it is only fair this park has the tastiest drinks to cool down. One of my go-to drinks is Baseline Taphouse’s strawberry lemonade. While it isn’t a spectacularly inventive beverage, there’s just something refreshing about an equally sweet and sour lemonade with a side of jazzed versions of modern pop classics and a salty pretzel to complement the lemonade’s flavor. If you find joy in simplicity, this is the drink for you!
Green Milk
Although I’m far from a Star Wars fan, I cannot deny Galaxy’s Edge has stellar snacks and drinks, such as green milk at the Milk Stand. The first time I sampled this peculiar concoction, I was a little leery, having been disappointed in the medicinal blue milk. I was happily surprised when this turned out to be one of my all-time favorite drinks! It has a gentle citrus flavor that oddly is the perfect match for this galactic drink. Hence the name green milk does have somewhat of a smooth, milky texture, but it is neither thick nor rich. I would compare it to an iced smoothie. Green milk is a great way to beat the Batuu heat.
Blurrgfire
Oga’s Cantina serves travelers from around the galaxy a wide variety of unique libations, including concoctions without alcohol. I can’t get enough of the Blurrgfire, which is pomegranate lemonade with a spicy twist. Habanero-lime syrup gives this drink a welcome kick, elevating it from a simple lemonade to a beverage worthy of ordering time and time again. The spice is not too offensive, so the Blurrgfire is an approachable beverage for most palates. To top it off, heavenly red salt embellishes the rim. Salt, spice, and sweetness converge to create an unparalleled beverage that will ‘wow’ your taste buds.
Berry Punch
The next drink is just a leisurely stroll away in Epcot’s American Adventure, specifically Regal Eagle Smokehouse, where Sam Eagle cooks up barbeque favorites and serves not only craft beers but a refreshing punch. The Berry Punch is straightforward enough, a mix of white grape juice, strawberry, peach, and blackberry, but what it lacks in complexity, it makes up for in fresh flavor. This punch is a delectable marriage of tangy and sweet flavors, setting it apart from other fruit drinks. Regal Eagle’s Berry Punch is the perfect way to cool off and prepare for the next leg of your global trek around World Showcase.
POG Juice
POG Juice is the epitome of classic Disney fare. The tart, sweet combination of passion fruit, orange, and guava never fails to satisfy a craving for tropical flair. My day becomes a little brighter anytime I’m able to order this drink. Although it is a Disney staple, POG Juice can be elusive at times; as of this writing, you can enjoy a glass of POG Juice at Steakhouse 71’s breakfast, ‘Ohana, Tusker House, and Cape May Café, to name a few.
