YOU Think These Are the WORST Months to Visit Disney World

Disney World can be VERY busy, but there are better times to visit than others!

Hollywood Studios

For example, in late August and early September, we’ve been seeing very low crowds in the parks. But, we’re sure to see things pick up again as we get closer to the holidays! If you’re planning a trip to Disney World, you’ll definitely need to take into account the month you’re visiting and the pros and cons that come with that time of year. We reached out to some Disney fans to see what they think is the WORST month to visit Disney World — let’s take a look at what they said!

Summer Months

The most popular answer by FAR was the summer months, specifically July and August. The main reason for this answer seemed to be due to the combination of the heat and the crowds. It’s true, we do typically see very high crowds and temperatures in July and in the beginning of August, but crowds tend to get lower at the end of August as kids go back to school.

One person said, “July and August. I’ve never been during those months but I have heard enough times that it’s ridiculously hot, that I will never go. I can barely handle the heat in early May!” A few people also added that people in July and August are “cranky” due to the heat.

The possibility of bad weather was brought up as well, with one person mentioning August in particular, saying “August. Summer crowds and heat, no special holidays or major events going on. And the possibility of serious weather events (I’m looking at you, Hurricane Charley).”

One person compared July to “walking on the surface of the sun” and another said “It’s hot enough to fry an egg on the sidewalk.”

But, June wasn’t off the hook either — another person said “Made the mistake of thinking early June would be okay…what a mistake! It was brutally hot. Even at night. At EPCOT the pavement literally radiated the heat at night. Will NEVER go in the summer again. I can manage with crowds but not the heat!!!

Another Disney fan warned that even with proper preparation, July was unmanageable in Disney World. They said “The damage done to my body by the heat last month (July) took me at least 2 weeks to get over. And I broke in shoes, upped my walking in advance, and hydrated like crazy.” Yikes! The heat is no joke.

Speaking of walking in the heat, one person said “We had a resort that was walking distance to a park and it was a miserable walk, even at 8AM…May through September are definitely off the table for our future visits…I’ll take crowds any day over sweating through two sets of clothes every day.”

And, since summer technically ends in September, it also got some backlash. One person mentioned that the humidity during that month is “brutal.”

November & December

The months that have popular holidays in them were also a common answer. The most frequently mentioned were around Christmas. One person said they “wouldn’t want to go the week between Christmas and New Year’s because of how crowded it is.”

Hollywood Studios Christmas Decorations

One person even went as far as saying they would “never go again in December” while another wrote off the months altogether, saying the worst months to visit are between November 1st and January 10th. Yep, that’s usually when the holiday crowds are in the parks!

Another person said “Christmas week is really bad. Extremely overcrowded. And too cold for us Floridians.” Believe it or not, it CAN actually get kind of chilly in the winter at Disney World!

Other

A few other miscellaneous instances were mentioned a few times as well, like someone saying “I don’t avoid months, I avoid school holidays and school group events.” Watch out for those times of the year when everyone is off of school, like during Spring Break!

Spring Break Crowds at the Magic Kingdom

One person mentioned February as the worst month due to the cheerleading competitions that happen at Disney World. They said “We stayed at (All Star) Sports & there were cheerleaders everywhere (rookie mistake lol) and the weather was so crazy. 70/80s during the day but then dropped to the 40s at night. We were definitely unprepared! Still a magical trip like always but I would say that I would think twice before booking in February again.”

Yeah, you’ll definitely want to pay attention to when there are major sporting events happening at Disney World!

ESPN Wide World of Sports

Finally, a few people said there’s actually not a worst month to visit Disney World. One person said “None! It’s always a good time to be at Disney World. IT’S DISNEY WORLD! Just enjoy!” and another wrote “There is no such thing, any month is great to me.” That’s the spirit!
