It’s October, and there’s a LOT happening in Disney World!
From construction projects to limited-time snacks, we’re constantly finding news stories to share with all of you who are traveling in the spookiest month. And if you’re heading to the parks in the next few weeks, we’ve got 8 things you need to know!
It’s Halloween Season, Baby!
Let’s start out with the obvious — it’s HALLOWEEN season! Even if you’re not one to celebrate early, you can likely agree that October is fair game when it comes to Halloween. Magic Kingdom is decked out in pumpkins, Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is taking place multiple times a week, and there are seasonal treats all over the parks and resorts to check out.
Typically, the Halloween fun ends in Disney World on October 31st because the parks transition to Christmas and the holiday season pretty quickly afterward. So you only have a few weeks left to check out all the awesome offerings!

The Food & Wine Festival Continues
The OTHER big event happening currently in Disney World is the EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival. It doesn’t end until partway through November, so you’ve still got several weeks to try all the food options around the World Showcase and the rest of the park.
As part of the festival, you can watch the Eat to the Beat Concert Series, try the Remy’s Ratatouille Hide and Squeak Scavenger Hunt, or eat your weight in cheese with Emile’s Fromage Montage. So many fun activities!

Characters Return to Cape May Cafe
Over at Cape May Cafe at Disney’s Beach Club Resort, things are finally returning to normal — the character breakfast is coming back! On October 4th, Minnie Mouse and her friends will once again be available to meet and greet guests during the buffet meal.
Dining reservations have already opened for this experience, and we’ll be there shortly after its return to check it out. Stay tuned for a full review!

Disney World is Hosting HBCU Week
If you’re traveling in the middle of October, then you should probably know about a big event that Disney World is hosting for a few days — HBCU Week! Historically Black Colleges and Universities Week will be held at Disney World for the first time ever from October 6th-9th.
How does this affect your trip? Well, the event is expected to bring more than 5,000 high school students, as well as recruiters from college campuses, to the parks and to the ESPN Wide World of Sports. Select university bands will also be performing in Magic Kingdom on October 8th. Just be aware that things could be more crowded than they typically are during this time.

Showtimes Are Changing at Magic Kingdom
If you’re visiting Magic Kingdom this month, then we’ve got some important details about showtimes for you! Beginning on October 9th, Mickey’s Celebration Cavalcade is moving to 5 showtimes each day at 10:45AM, 11:55AM, 1:40AM, 4:25PM, and 5:55PM. Due to this change, the Festival of Fantasy Parade is dropping down to one showtime at 3PM daily.
The Disney Adventure Friends Cavalcade will have two showtimes at 5:10PM and 6:25PM on nights when Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party isn’t happening, and one showtime at 5:10PM when it is. Also, the Disney Enchantment fireworks show will be premiering at 8:15PM each night starting on October 17th.

Breakfast Returns to Crystal Palace
We’ve got even MORE character meal news to share! Crystal Palace recently had characters return after a more than 2-year absence, but they only came back for lunch and dinner. Now, breakfast service is returning to the restaurant and bringing friends from the Hundred Acre Woods along with it!
Reservations are already available for 60 days out, and breakfast returns on October 25th. During the meal, you’ll typically see Winnie the Pooh, Eeyore, Piglet, and Tigger.

You Can Start Planning for the Holidays and Beyond
If you’re planning a trip for the holiday season and beyond, listen up! Starting this month, you can do some planning for various special offerings at the parks. On October 6th, guests can start making reservations to book Candlelight Processional Dining Packages for the EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays. Then, later in the month, regular dining reservations will open for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. If you’re traveling during that week, reservations will probably be pretty challenging to secure!
In 2023, After Hours events are returning to Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios. Guests of Disney World resorts can start purchasing tickets for these events on October 4th, and guests staying offsite can purchase starting October 7th.
