Calling all Doctor Who fans, we have great news for all of you! Disney has joined forces with BBC to bring Doctor Who to Disney+. The announcement was made by the next Doctor Who, Ncuti Gatwa, during an appearance on Live with Kelly and Ryan. It is noted that the show will be produced in Wales by Bad Wolf with BBC Studios Production.
Disney+ will become the new global home for upcoming seasons of Doctor Who outside of the UK and Ireland, and BBC will continue to be Doctor Who’s exclusive home in the UK. These two huge leaders in entertainment have come together to transform Doctor Who into a global franchise for UK audiences and the rest of the world. New episodes of the show are set to premiere on the streaming service in late 2023. That will be here before we know it because this year has been moving extremely fast.
Here is what the president of Disney+ thinks about this collaboration.
“We’re excited by the opportunity to bring new seasons of this beloved franchise exclusively to Disney+ and introduce the show to the next generation of audiences in more than 150 markets around the world. The series is a perfect addition to our ever-growing catalog of global content that continues to make Disney+ the home for exceptional storytelling.”
Alisa Bowen, President, Disney+
Yesterday the Doctor Who Twitter account posted an announcement for the season that is coming out in 2023, and the internet has been beaming with excitement over the trailer. Take a look.
