One of the three scare zones at Halloween Horror Nights 2022 in Universal Studios Hollywood is El Pueblo del Terror.
Here’s the official description: “From La Llorona to El Chupacabras, the most terrifying myths of all time converge in one tiny village where la muerte is your only escape.”
This is a fun scare zone that is right at the exit of the La Llorona house, tying into the theme and continuing the environment once you emerge back into the park.
Various folklore monsters from Central and South America are the denizens of this scare zone, some of which will be familiar to most and others who are new introductions from obscure tales.
The whole scare zone is presented through a pulp comic, with a tobacconist cart where one might acquire one of these tales of dread as one of the set dressings.
This one seems to be the most fun for the performers, or at least they seem to be having the best time as they dance around and interact with guests passing through.
It’s nice to walk through but not necessarily a place one would need to spend much time in to get the full experience. One pass through, maybe two, will be enough to get what they are driving at and move on.
This is in contrast to the Death Eater Encounter which is fun to stand around and watch for a while or contrasted to Clownsaws which provides different aspects and scares throughout the night.
Watch our walkthrough of the scare zone below.
