It’s finally October, and more Halloween snacks have been arriving across Walt Disney World. We stopped by Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort to try the “Moana”-inspired Tamatoa mini cake. This is a limited time Halloween treat, available through October 31. You can find it at Capt. Cook’s and Kona Island.
Tamatoa Mini Cake – $5.99
Chocolate Chiffon Cake with Hawaiian Chantilly Filling and ‘Shiny’ Sprinkles
The mini cake features Tamatoa from “Moana.” It comes with chocolate chiffon cake and Hawaiian chantilly.
The chocolate cake itself is on the dry side, which was disappointing.
The icing is buttercream with plenty of shiny gold sprinkles all over. The chocolate pieces on top are the standard Disney white chocolate decorations.
The Hawaiian chantilly cream inside this cake was sweet and delicious. It helped moisten up the cake, but there should have been more.
Overall, the cake is decent but dry. It’s visually interesting, and if you’ve got a “Moana” fan in the family, it may be worth the trip.
