You need your sustenance in the morning if you’re on a Disney World vacation.
You’re gonna walk thousands of steps and meet plenty of new (or familiar) friends along the way. When you’re in Animal Kingdom, you NEED your breakfast before you climb Everest, safari in Africa, and soar over the floating mountains on the back of a banshee.
So, we’re here to dish on the best breakfasts in Animal Kingdom.
Here is where we plug in our disclaimer — this is not an exhaustive list of ALL of the places you find breakfast (and let’s face it, you’re on vacation, so you can have ice cream for breakfast if you want…), we’re just listing the best places that keep us coming back time after time. So, let’s dig in!
Quick Breakfasts at Animal Kingdom
Isle of Java is a little kiosk in Discovery Island that is a great spot to grab a quick coffee and pastry on your way to Expedition Everest.
It serves our beloved Joffrey’s coffee and is often the site where we can find the Tiger Tail pastry (one of our favorite croissant-like pastries filled with chocolate and topped with orange and black frosting), or you can grab one of those Colossal Mickey Cinnamon Rolls, which are large enough to share.
This makes our “best of” list because of those classic pastries, the Joffrey’s coffee, and the fact that the line is SO much shorter than the Starbucks line. No. Joke.
A List of 50 Restaurants and Attractions That Close EARLY in Disney World
Pongu Pongu in Pandora – World of Avatar is the spot you’ll want to hit up if your early morning dash takes you over to ride Flight of Passage.
If you’re craving something savory and more “stick-your-ribs,” then the Sausage, Egg, and Cheese Biscuit will fit the bill. But if it’s your sweet tooth that calls the shots in the morning, then the Pongu Lumpia is your holy grail of breakfasts (or really any time of day).
This is a unique pineapple cream cheese spring roll that gives us pineapple cheesecake vibes all day long.
How You Should Spend Your Money in Animal Kingdom
Yak And Yeti Local Foods Cafe in the Asia section of Animal Kingdom is the spot to hit up if you want something hearty while you trek around the park.
You can grab breakfast bowls filled with breakfast potatoes, peppers, cheese, eggs, and your choice of bacon or sausage. Or, if you want something a bit more hand-held, get an egg and sausage muffin.
Kiddos also have their own menu with French Toast or a Pancake & Sausage stick (think corn dog, but with breakfast sausage wrapped in a pancake). It’s good enough to order for yourself, which we know … because we’ve done that a time or two…or twenty-seven.
The Best FAST Breakfasts at Walt Disney World
Sweet Breakfasts at Animal Kingdom
Creature Comforts Coffee Shop is where you can grab the same specialty drinks and pastries from your local Starbucks. But thanks to signature Animal Kingdom theming, it’s likely quite different from any Starbucks you’ve ever visited before!
Starbucks draws the crowds in, but it can be worth the wait if you’re looking for something sweet to start the day. You’ll always find some sort of seasonal or celebration cupcake here. And we consider cake to just be a fancy word for muffin, which is a breakfast food, so it’s fair game!
Or you can grab the Mickey Colossal Cinnamon Roll here as well if you want something big to share.
REVIEW: There’s Now ANOTHER Place to Grab a Mickey Cinnamon Roll in Disney World!
Kusafiri Coffee Shop And Bakery is just over the bridge if that line at Creature Comforts just looks too daunting.
Yet, another spot serving up that Colossal Cinnamon Roll, or grab the Pistachio Honey Croissant for something a bit more unique.
And if you’re not opposed to having an “adult” beverage this early in the morning, the African Coffee with Amarula Cream Liquor can help round out an immersive morning in Africa.
You’ll Underestimate Disney World’s New Snack…But You Shouldn’t
Fancy Breakfasts at Animal Kingdom
Tusker House is one of the best-kept secrets around when it comes to Disney dining and Character Meals.
The food is flavorful and interesting, and the characters are high-quality, featuring Donald, Mickey, and friends… all dressed in their Safari best! If you are looking for a fun character meal in a unique setting with terrific food, this is your spot!
For breakfast, you get those classics like Mickey (or SIMBA!) Waffles, breakfast potatoes, bacon, and sausage, but you can also find some more unique options like Durban Chicken and Egg Curry. And no adventurous breakfast is complete without Jungle Juice (what you may know as POG — passion fruit, orange, and guava juice), just what you need to fortify yourself before a safari!
