After the closure of Williams Of Hollywood Prop Shop back in June, the nearby photo location The Dark Room has announced its closure will be permanent. Management confirmed the permanent closure of this location, and stated it would be moving toward the back of the park. One position mentioned for the new location was near Men In Black: Alien Attack. This photo location was home to two photo booths with green screens, each which had four exclusive backdrops for pictures. My Universal Photos members were able to strike a pose and receive an exclusive image in addition to the four main backdrops.
While the doors have been shuttered for a short time, we noticed there was progress made in clearing out the inside of the building.
Demolition progress within was more visible at night, with the sheer curtains doing little to block out the public view.
Behind the sheer black curtains, the majority of interior items have been removed.
A different vantage point shows that the flooring has been removed, along with any items and non-structural features.
There is a hole in the wall connecting what was formerly The Dark Room and Williams of Hollywood, with it being in the old location of the portrait of Bela Lugosi featured within Williams of Hollywood. It appears this is in preparation for a unique larger experience combining the two locations.
Will you be missing The Dark Room? What do you think would be a worthy successor to this fan favorite location? Where do you hope this experience will return? Let us know your thoughts on this change in the comments down below.
