EPCOT’s Living with the Land is living its best life as decorations sprouted up throughout the attraction. We recently sailed through to experience this year’s Living with the Land — Glimmering Greenhouses.
Once guests travel through a scene of a deciduous forest in the middle of a thunderstorm, a tropical rainforest, a desert, the American prairie, and a series of small theatre displays on how food is grown, guests head towards the Sustainable Agriculture Production & Research Center. It is here where guests can see ideas about the future of agriculture. All of the plants in this section are grown through various methods of hydroponics. Plants are grown in sand, perlite, coconut coir, and rock wool.
On an ordinary day, this half of the Living with the Land attraction is always the highlight of the tour, but during the holidays it takes on a special glow. In years past, the attraction has always had a holiday overlay. Last year it was known as Merry and Bright Nights. This year’s overlay, which is similar to last year’s but with some subtle differences, has a new name: Living with the Land – Glimmering Greenhouses.
We recently took a ride through to see the Land in all its holiday finery.
After the doors slide open, guests sail into the tunnel as they make their way to the first of five distinct areas of the “living laboratory” – the greenhouse.
The tunnel is lit with soft red and green lights similar to ones you’d find strung for a backyard party.
The first view of the greenhouse is of the magnificent breadfruit tree. The tree, which can grow up to 85 feet in height, is lit from the trunk in soft glowing white lights.
On the right side of the boat, grasses, palms, and other tropical crops are lit in pastel colors.
Embedded in the sand are a rainbow of pebble lights that gradually change colors.
Even our plant friends get presents for the holidays.
The fish farm area festively glows green and red.
Overhead lights that mimic snowfall shimmer.
A “hidden” Mickey that changes color is laid in front of a pile of presents!
This Mickey was even given Rudolph’s nose and antlers!
This gazebo is covered in lights and with red and white bows.
Lights are wrapped around the support beams throughout the attraction.
These NFTs seem to be thriving! Can’t say that about anything else with that name.
Table displays with presents can be spotted throughout the attraction.
Check out these giant ornaments! The decor shelf is also well done.
The lab is decorated again this year with giant snowflakes and stockings.
Riding Living with the Land is always a treat when you visit EPCOT, this overlay makes it especially magical!
