Reopening Timeline Announced for Orlando International Airport Following Tropical Storm Nicole

Tropical Storm Nicole (which hit Florida as a Category 1 hurricane before weakening into a tropical storm once again) has mostly passed through Central Florida, although wind and rain are still happening in certain areas.

Storm in Disney World

Disney World closed early on November 9th for the storm and reopened its theme parks in a late, phased reopening process the next day. The Orlando International Airport also closed, but now they’ve announced when the airport will resume commercial operations.

On November 9th, the Orlando International Airport announced that commercial operations would cease beginning at 4PM. They said that anyone with a flight booked during the closure should work directly with their airline regarding cancellations, refunds, and rescheduling.

Now, the airport has announced that “limited commercial operations will resume at [the] airport starting at 8PM tonight, Thursday (11/10/22).” This update affects domestic arrivals only. “Remaining international and domestic operations will resume tomorrow, Friday (11/11/22).”

If you have a flight to Orlando that arrives after 8PM tonight, you should be fine to keep those travel plans. Otherwise, contact your airline to see what your options are about changing your flight.
