The holiday season has landed in Disneyland, and WE ARE HERE FOR IT!
You can bet we were singing Christmas carols when we pulled into Festival of Holidays, getting ready to eat ALL the things, while drinking a few things, too. So we’re now visiting the Making Spirits Bright food booth to check out some more delicious treats.
Menu
The Making Spirits Bright menu is all about cozy snacks and drinks. We’re talking hot cocoa, buttered rum, and gingerbread cookies.
So let’s get to eating!
Food
The only food available here is the Mickey Mouse-shaped Gingerbread Cookie for $7.50. This is a classic Disney gingerbread cookie with a thin icing glaze and sprinkles — these cookies constantly deliver on the taste and texture, and this one is no different. We like the addition of the glaze that adds just enough sweetness to balance the cookie’s fall spices, which taste like ginger, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
Let’s wash down that snack with a few drinks.
Drinks
First up is the Santa’s Milk & Cookies Hot Cocoa for $6.50. This is the non-alcoholic beverage here, and it’s made with Whole Milk with flavors Cookies & Cream and White Chocolate, topped with Whipped Cream. Okay, we’re going to say it — this is one of the best hot cocoas in Disneyland. The combination of the different chocolates with the cookie flavor is hot cocoa perfection.
We also tried the alcoholic drink on the menu, the Maple-Hazelnut Hot Buttered Rum for $16. This is made with Rum, Maple, Hazelnut, Demerara Sugar, Butter, Cinnamon, Nutmeg, and Clove, garnished with Salted Caramel Whipped Cream, Sea Salt, and Demerara Sugar Sprinkles. Yes, Disney COMMITTED to this drink.
It’s served hot and toasty, perfect for a chilly morning. We really liked the sweet cream on top, but here’s the thing — with all it has going on, we found it to be a little flavorless — it seems like a lot of those spices get left in the bottom of the cup as you’re sipping on it.
But if you like hot buttered rum, you’d probably still want to try this out. It might help to stir it up a bit before drinking it!
Overall
The Making Seasons Bright booth has delivered on those cozy and warm holiday feelings, and this is definitely where you want to go if you want to get a great cup of hot cocoa and a cookie (really, what’s better than that this time of year?).
