Alien Pizza Planet is serving up out-of-this-world holiday dishes this year. The new Charcuterie Pizza Slice joins the returning Holiday Green Alien Macaron.
Charcuterie Pizza Slice – $8.99
with Pesto Cream Sauce, Fig Marmalade, Prosciutto, Capocollo, Spanish Chorizo, Caramelized Onions, Cornichons, Cheese Blend, and Arugula
This is much better than we expected it to be. Pizza at this restaurant is very up and down, but mostly down. This one is genuinely delicious. Cornichons on a pizza is a bold move, but it’s a gamble that pays off. The prosciutto and capocollo are baked in with the pizza and wind up crispy, almost like elevated bacon.
The fig marmalade brings an unexpected yet welcome sweetness to the otherwise salty pizza, and the cornichons provide a surprising tang that works well. The base of the flavor profile, and the pizza itself, is the pesto cream sauce. It’s present in every bite and melds perfectly with the cheese as a heavy base for the sweet, salty, and savory toppings.
All these flavors work well on a charcuterie board, and apparently, they all work well together on a pizza. We thoroughly enjoyed this.
Holiday Green Alien Macaron – $6.49
filled with Marshmallow Creme and Chocolate Ganache
They’re sweet in both appearance and taste. Don’t be afraid to bite into the endearing decorative features. Akin to white chocolate accents on a wedding cake, they are meant to be enjoyed, not fussed over, and certainly not preserved for any misplaced sentiment (even if those big eyes are just so cute).
The holiday season at Disneyland runs from November 11 through January 8.
