Bright Suns! Life Day celebrations continue on Batuu, and Kat Saka’s Kettle has cooked up a delicious new Jakkuan Corn Chile and Cheese Pie to commemorate.
Jakkuan Corn Chile + Cheese Pie – $6.79
Roasted poblano pepper, corn, mozzarella, citrus dipping sauce
Jakku is the planet where Rey grew up, primarily known from “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” though it first debuted in the “Journey to Star Wars: The Force Awakens” book series. You can also visit Jakku aboard Star Tours: The Adventures Continue just across the park.
The crust is light and flaky, and is complimented well by the gooey cheese and sweet flavor of the corn, all of which work together very well.
The roasty chili flavor of the poblano is big on flavor but not on spice, to leave your palate available to enjoy the many other flavors present in this dish.
When dipping in the citrus dipping sauce, which is a mayonnaise based citrus sauce, it takes on a flavor similar to elotes locos, with the mayonnaise, lime, chile and corn all together. This is a fantastic little hand pie and one that we are going to be returning to on our next visit to Batuu. Will you be trying out this new snack?
