A new month means new ice cream flavors at Salt & Straw, and this chain with locations in Disney Springs and Downtown Disney is pushing our palates with unusual flavors once again.
After experiencing ice cream flavors including honey fried chicken, BUGS, and deviled egg, is it any surprise that for the month of November, Salt & Straw is bringing us a full Thanksgiving Dinner in frozen form?
Tyler Malek, the co-founder of Salt & Straw, describes the new flavors as a “5-course Thanksgiving Tasting Menu.” Let’s take a look at the new ice cream flavors!
If you believe that the ROLLS are the best part of Thanksgiving dinner, you may be interested in this ice cream flavor. It’s made with a buttery, salty ice cream base. Parker House rolls are toasted and then coated in buttercream frosting and folded into the ice cream.
The stuffing from your Thanksgiving table is represented by this ice cream. It’s a sweet, cornbread base with a peach jam infused with honey vinegar and warming spices. “It’s savory, but just sweet enough,” Malek said in a video posted to the company’s Instagram.
TURKEY Ice Cream?! Yes. You’re reading that right. This ice cream has a base of salt and pepper flavor. The turkey here is turkey bacon (OK, maybe we’re warming up to the idea…), folded into a brittle with lots of thyme. There’s also cranberry sauce stirred into this concoction.
The classic Thanksgiving dessert of pumpkin pie is a coconut-based, vegan pumpkin pie ice cream with crumbled gingersnaps representing the pie crust.
Like many of us who indulge in multiple desserts at Thanksgiving dinner, Salt & Straw’s tasting menu includes two dessert offerings. Mom’s Mango Pie is a collaboration with musician Hrishikesh Hirway — an ice cream interpretation of Hirway’s mother’s mango pie recipe. It starts with a base of mawa (a type of evaporated milk) and mango, with a graham cracker crust and mango pie filling swirled in.
Salt & Straw says the new flavors will be available at its Disney Springs and Downtown Disney locations now through November 23rd.
