After work resumed on the Walt Disney World Railroad last month, we have seen more construction on the train tracks. The railroad has been closed since late 2018 due to the nearby construction of TRON Lightcycle / Run. The tracks at Fantasyland Station in Storybook Circus were removed for refurbishment in 2020. Their replacement began soon after, but construction seemed to pause for the past year even as refurbished Walt Disney World Railroad engines were tested nearby.
This week, we saw crew members on the train tracks near the new roller coaster.
Multiple construction vehicles were at the station when we dropped by.
This vehicle is pulled directly on the track.
A metal rail runs down the center of the tracks.
When we visited the next day, construction vehicles and materials had been cleared out before Hurricane Nicole’s landfall.
The tracks are looking closer to completion though. After the Fantasyland Station, trains will go beneath TRON Lightcycle / Run, through a tunnel.
Walt Disney World Railroad will presumably reopen around the same time TRON Lightcycle / Run opens next year.
