FULL Guide to Disney Cruise Line’s COVID-19 Policies

To ensure we are equipping our readers with all the information they need, we will continue to report on all travel, safety, and COVID-related news that could impact a Disney Parks visit.

Since the COVID-19 pandemic began, policies and travel restrictions have been constantly changing.

While COVID-19 restrictions have seemed to disappear in the Disney parks, there are some rules you should know about before going on a trip with Disney Cruise Line. So, we’re going to break down the COVID-19 policies in one spot so you know everything about the current COVID-19 policies.

Vaccination Status

As of now, both vaccinated and unvaccinated guests are allowed to take a Disney cruise. Although vaccinations used to be required for nearly all guests on Disney cruises, Disney announced this change in September 2022.

Disney does recommend that guests become fully vaccinated before sailing on their website, but it no longer a requirement to take a trip on a Disney ship.

COVID-19 Testing

Disney Cruise Line used to require testing for all passengers and then changed to just unvaccinated passengers. As of now, though, all guests, regardless of age or vaccination status, no longer have to provide a negative COVID-19 test before boarding the boat.

Disney has a message on their website that encourages anyone who is unvaccinated to take a COVID-19 test 2 days before the sailing, however it is not required by the cruise line anymore.

Face Masks

Face masks were one of the first COVID-19 restrictions to be lifted on Disney Cruise Line. After updated mask guidance from the CDC, face masks became optional in most indoor locations as of March 2022 for U.S. sailings.

Masks were required in certain areas including the theaters but currently there is no mask mandate onboard.

Ports

Disney Cruise Line follows local laws and regulations in the homeports and ports of call, so when COVID-19 policies change at destinations or ports, that is likely when Disney Cruise Line will change their policies.

It’s important to check what the COVID-19 policies are at each port you’re scheduled to go to BEFORE your trip. You can typically find these policies on the country’s official government website.

Assembly Drills

Also, in-person assembly days are back and required on embarkation day for Disney cruises again. These drills prepare everyone on the ship in case there was any sort of emergency during the trip.

When cruising came back, guests were split into smaller groups to complete these drills, but as of now, they are back to pre-pandemic status.

Cancellation Policy

Currently, Disney Cruise Line has the Temporary Flexible Refund Policy which allows guests with COVID-19 related health concerns to receive a full refund without Disney’s cancellation fees. Guests can also apply that cruise fare to another cruise within 14 days of the sailing.

Guests who have experienced symptoms of COVID-19, have a temperature of 100.4 degrees or more, have been exposed to someone with COVID-19 in the previous 14 days, or have tested positive for COVID-19 within 14 days of the sailing are eligible for this refund policy.
