A physical fight broke out during “Harmonious” last night, December 13, on the World Showcase Promenade at EPCOT.
A guest not involved in the fight shared a video of it with us. Two guests are visible struggling with each other on the ground. Other guests are shining phone flashlights on them and trying to pull them apart. “Out There” from “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” can be heard in the background. The reason for the fight is unknown. Guests can be heard arguing, but their words are unintelligible over the ironic music, given that many fans believe guests who fight shouldn’t be allowed “out there” at Walt Disney World.
This summer, two families made national news when they got into hand-to-hand combat in the middle of Magic Kingdom’s Fantasyland over an alleged bump in a ride queue. At Disney’s Hollywood Studios, a man claimed he was assaulted by children, but ended up arrested for child abuse. A screaming match at the Transportation and Ticket Center thankfully didn’t get physical. There have also been multiple fights on the Magic Kingdom ferryboats.
“Harmonious” itself is set to be replaced next year as part of the 100 Years of Wonder celebration. A “Harmonious” barge caught fire in October, just one of many pyrotechnic incidents. Rumors are also swirling that the new show could remove the four taco-shaped barges and large ring barge at the center of World Showcase Lagoon in favor of using drone technology and low-level pyrotechnics for the new show.
