How to Make the Most of a Rainy Day at Disney World

It’s safe to say that it rains a lot in Central Florida during the summer and all year round. In the winter, we get large storms that take up a whole day to bring in a cold front that lasts a few days. The most significant difference is that these bring cold rain, which is not fun to get stuck in. That being said, there are plenty of ways to enjoy your Disney vacation on days like that. Here are some fun activities to help make the most of these rainy days.

Explore Your Resort

Some resorts require guests to walk outdoors to get to the lobby or dining areas, but some don’t. It is easy to accomplish if you are in a hotel like Disney’s Contemporary, Gran Destino Tower, The Riviera Resort, Animal Kingdom Lodge, or Disney’s BoardWalk Resort. For other resorts, you can have a movie day with your family and eat in the room while watching the storm pass.

Resorts also have fun activities that guests can participate in throughout the day. This could make for a great rest day. If staying at the resort isn’t ideal for you, you could head to Disney Springs and watch a movie at the AMC Movie Theater.

Explore Indoor Attractions

I would avoid visiting Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios on rainy days since they have the least indoor area. Magic Kingdom and EPCOT have plenty of options when trying to avoid the rain. Here are some of the best indoor attractions at each park.

Magic Kingdom

There are so many options at Magic Kingdom, but I think these attractions take up a decent amount of time and provide shelter. They also have covered queues.

EPCOT

Each of these options can take up a lot of time, The Seas with Nemo and Friends is a cute attraction that leads into the aquarium, and it is easy to spend up to an hour exploring. The same goes for the Gran Fiesta Tour because it’s inside the Mexico Pavilion. There’s so much to see and do within the area, just like most of the pavilions in World Showcase.

Enjoy a Fun Dining Experience

Gloomy days are perfect for enjoying dining experiences that take up more time, like character or themed dining locations. Here’s a list of restaurants that are perfect for sitting out storms.

Magic Kingdom

EPCOT

Hollywood Studios

Animal Kingdom
